Horray, you probably can download K-Ninja from GeoCities. The web browser finally gave me the download file box. But don't expect that to last long!

worst hosting companies
Speaking of worst hosting companies, the one that surely top them all is the Roundberry/Hostedtoday/Advantages1web consortium. It's the same company and the same crappy hosting solutions. They'll literally make you lose your mind and they’re a bunch of filthy liars. With them all the " cliché" about bad support customer services become a reality, meaning a n- i- g- h- t- m- a- r- e. And when you have reaches the point of no return they'll start messing with you knowing that you won't renew your hosting plan with them. Also, you’ll realize very quickly that the "99.9% uptime" they guarantee is a misrepresentation. If you expect a site that will run smoothly, takes this advice; STAY AWAY from Roundberry/Hostedtoday/Advantages1web consortium, especially if you're putting lots of efforts to run a successful business and paying for advertising.
A typical answer I remember from their miserable "support department" after they had made an unauthorized transaction on my credit card was " Please hold tight until we get back to you." That says it all! :

Which is why they have an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB.
Actually, I can't say I encountered any true horror shows, but I wasn't enamored with GoDaddy. Slow performance and other issues were seldom resolved, except by just waiting. Their tech staff wasn't very good.

My old host recently went out of business ...and he told me about it ahead of time. He assured me that he would make full and complete backups of my sites so that I could move them to a new host. When I found my new host, I attempted to install the backups of my sites and tragically, the mysql databases were not included. I had to start over and I lost a lot of time and effort which I had put into them over a lengthy time span.

Your lesson here is that you should make sure you back up your files. Don't depend on any Web host to do it for you, regardless of what they promise.
At the end of the day, if they fail to do it properly, how do you get your files back otherwise?
Peace,
Gene

This is the lesson I give to everyone on my tech radio show: Backup, backup, backup! Don't let it happen to you, or adopt the religion when it's too late!

The not so virtious virtuoso
A while back I had a virtuoso account. Being treated rudely by their support was bad enough that I decided to cancel my account and then the fecal matter really hit the oscillator. The morning after I discovered that someone had changed my password at godaddy, changed the email on the account and reset all the dns settings. After a good 30 minutes on the phone with Godaddy (their on hold time can be long) we got it all put back right. taught me a lesson about using the same password in two places.
If you read Virtuous's site closely, you'll find they attribute their "success" to God. I attribute it to not enough people knowing how bad their service is.

Almost immediately after moving several sites to BinaryBlocks from another incompetent, now-defunct host, we noticed several instances of prolonged downtime. Sometimes the sites were down for two or three days. On one occasion, our sites were down for 5 days.
It must be your ISP. The server is up, and I have a multi-million dollar monitoring system in place to alert my staff when the server is down.
This was the standard response. And then one day, after another period of extended downtime, this message was displayed on the BinaryBlocks home page:
Disconnected For Non-Payment
This server/site has been turned off for non-payment. All the data on this server/site has been retained. If you have any questions please contact wwww.cobaltracks.com.
As it turns out, Jason Piercy's business was nothing more than a fancy website, a leased server and an extra phone line in what may have been his mother's garage. He had hundreds if not over a thousand customers who were paying good money; but instead of paying the bill for the leased server, he bought a new car.
After six months of non-payment, the dedicated server folks pulled the plug and hundreds of websites vanished.
This is what happens when you do business with lying schmucks.

I have tried so called unlimited web hosting companies for which I bid on ebay and the fees was less than $10 and therefore I decided to try it to see what they are about and how they function unlimited hosting.
After 2 or 3 weeks during which my test website was running okay, they started moving around the servers many times and after 1 or 2 times of changing the servers, I decide to stop test running of the site.
I can say that according to my experience, the unlimited web hosting from ebay is total waste of money.
Go for proper web hosting companies.

My worst experience since the begining of my e-commerce, was a few weeks ago.
After my presse release I was in trouble because of high traffic. My little MS Access data base did not handle that and put often my site in errors. Then with one of my developer (I've got 2) depending of their avaibility, we converted this little db into MSSQL, that's where the big problems started.
The hosting 4 domains dot com had not only a MSSQL server in error, but was too often in error, mess up my ranking, slow loading pages, no support at all during the week end, then fighting with tech during the week because they did not care of this problem.
I cancelled my account and went on VPS with a few hosting, and it was getting worse and worse as they did not provide serious technical support, then cancelled again accounts.
Finely, I found a very good hosting company recommended by my developer. My account was setup and the work requested done in 3 hours !
Now my site is working great, loading pages very fast, and a server well configurated.
After all my trouble, of course I lost links, but the most important I lost many pages indexed on search engines, that's sad to see my hard work going to the trash, I hope the search engines will put back the pages indexed before in the next weeks.
Hosting is the back bone of your site, if they are unprofessional, they can dammage your clientel, your business, your ranking, and destroy your traffic. I don't even talk about how they waste my time and money.
Horrible story? yes, this is why so many e-commerce disappear from internet, because of lack of professional hosting companies.

Probable from extremohost.com. I hosted my proxies there for 2 days, and all was well, until they were down for 3 days and said that they might not go back online for a while longer. I switched to a different host and lost most of my returning traffic. The end

Just had a hard time at www.smokyhosts.com, though their service been quite good throughout the time I'd been with them. I mean their past service and current status is not letting me find out if I should continue with them or not! Can anyone having reseller with them let me know what they are up to now? I need to decide on urgent basis and need user reviews in this regard. Will appreciate your kind concern!
Regards,
