What are the 3-5 most important things you are looking for in a host?

Is it price, uniqueness, quality of support and customer service? Please share

free transfer of your existing sites
fast response to service tickets
1 months credit if the trouble ticket is not replied to with a certain amount of time
Managed server from people who know what they are doing
Up to date technology on hardware and software

Just to name a few.

Jeremy, another important one would be INNOVATIVE...a hosting provider that provides you with the latest versions such as ASP.NET MVC, the soon to be released ASP.NET 4.0, and so forth.

I don't really believe in unlimited anything, but I'm along the same lines as what Kevin said and Doug.
I like to have support when I need it, a ticket system works but live support is best
I like to have 99.99% uptime, fast hardware and the option to setup the latest versions of all my applications as well as a past reviews. I like my hosting company to of been around for a while as well.

2. is NOT possible. Anyone who offer unlimited bandwidth is NOT a good host.

The most important thing is support. A good hosting provider should have good technical support team.

I guess this is possible, since you don't say anything about quality at all.

From what I'm seeing in this thread for shared plans price and the amount of resources seem to be the leading factors,
while for dedicated plans - IT stuff expertise and technologies offered are getting more essential, as well as the type of datercenter where the servers are located.

I am not a huge fan of the unlimited bandwidth marketing aspect either, but the reasons companies do it is because it works unfortunately. I dont think it necessarily makes them a bad host? Example would be giving someone unlimited bandwidth on a 10mbps uplink.. thats only around 3 TB of bandwidth or so and is not that bad..

2. 24/7 support available
3. Low Price
4. Customization options
5. Shopping Cart available

Support Is an important part of the hosting business now a days.
After the basic hardware,what I look for most Is a very potent support team within the hosting company.
and ofcourse a Live chat agent.
