Is hostgator a good choice?
Hi,
My hoster kicked me because of too much traffic
Now I'm searching for a new one. I think Hostgator is a good choice but I don't know if they are ok with adultblogs?
Anybody has experience with hg and adultblogs?

Host Gator allows adult content. What kind of traffic are you getting per month?

I think it all depends on the amount of traffic you get, if you get a ton, then you may need something beyond the basic shared hosts (a VPS or semi dedicated server). That said I think in terms of the different shared oversellers, hostgator seems to have the most tolerance for sites that use more resources.

For smaller websites hostgator works great. If you have high traffic site you rather look for dedicated servers.

I've been using HostGator, and it's not bad. I've been having a better experience with it than with BlueHost.
Edit: Good luck with HostGator!

Hostgator is good but i would speak to them directly about what kind of traffic you have each month to see if they can accommodate you.

Be sure that HG wil do the same. I recommend serverpoint for the quality and reasonable hosting services.

i'd recommend hostgator because of its cpanel, ease of use, and excellent customer services; i don't know about hosting adult content but it's something you might want to inquire about. i host internet marketing minisites so i wouldn't know about that...

Please be sure to read the terms of service for HostGator, because if they feel your site traffic is affecting other sites in some cases they will suspend your service. You may want to look for a solid VPS host.

I am using HostGator and so far I never face such problem before this :-) But there's a chance that you'll get kicked out again if you have too much traffic, I would suggest you to get VPS for your websites instead.

Yeah if you are getting too much traffic, then you might have to upgrade your plan.

That is the scheme what you will have on the most web hosting companies. So that is not the scheme for the one particular company.

Very true. I would not host websites that get extreme traffic with them because they will boot you for that. However, they are great for smaller sites.

I would never go with hostgator, dreamhost or any of those high profile hosting companies. Most of them oversell and you end up with an overpriced hosting plan, that doesn't hold up to their sales page.
I would check for past reviews on any future host you maybe considering. Check on sites like webhostingtalk for what their customers say about their support.
just my opinion

I suppose you need to try all what you like and then you will have your own opinion and will make your decisions

This thread is being cleaned up:
a) The question was whether HostGater was a good choice for the poster's needs.
b) They seemed to have made a decision 07-08-2009, 03:30 PM :
