Is your current server not good enough?
20k isnt much at all really.
Are your pages all static? or dynamic?
Check your load and what's causing high load.. Check your sql statements? try and make it better.
You wont need anything special to handle 20k normally.

I agree, 20k of unique visitors a day is a pretty hefty load and I don't know of any shared hosts that would really be up for that kind of traffic with their basic packages. If you add to that any hog scripts like Wordpress or the like you are going to be shut down for violation of the user agreement I can almost guarantee it...

if you want a shared hosting then go for Liquid Web
their Shared hosting Professional Plan can handle your 20k visitors with ease
it will cost you 25$/month
you will be having a dedicated IP for your site
+
they have an awesome support staff
they also provide dedicated hosting plans but the package is over 100$/month

Well on shared hosting non of the company allow you 20k visitors daily because it effects the server. Your requirements requires Dedicated resources. I refer you to go with Dedicated Server or VPS.

I think Shared hosting in hostgator or justhost would be good enough for you. You can use their live chat console and describe your situation. And please update us here if you do.

You can read the Terms and Conditions before purchasing so that you will not face any issues future. Your requirements only suits Dedicated Server or Vps.

Well Either its Linux or Windows hosting on shared hosting. If the Traffic of the websites increases and create issues on Server . The company will suspend the account. That is why i suggest you to read terms and conditions before purchasing any shared hosting account.

How can you possibly know this without more details for the OP.
If he is serving static pages with few graphics that can be served from memory and have a trivial impact on server performance.
A intensive database driven site might need a dedicated server for this much traffic, but again without details it is all a guessing game.

There is nothing that assures you that a linux host can handle a high amount of traffic. It's a nonsense statement.
There are very capable windows servers out there (or so I am told, I don't care of them). Then there are really pitiful old linux servers out there.
Nothing by it's nature makes a linux server inherently able to handle a high traffic load.

I wouldn't call it a fast statement necessarily. It just like saying "Computers are fast". All computers are not fast, but some computers are.
A "high amount of traffic" is also very ambiguous, that easily means different things to different people.
Linux hosting can be capable of handling high amounts of traffic, and often does. Just as computer can be fast.
Does that make sense, I can't think of a better way to explain it at the moment.

Well if you have 20K uniques per day and you feel it might go up from there. I would say buy a dedicated even if it is small one.
Small in meaning of specs of that server. RAM Processor etc.

The easiest way to start off if you are on a tight budget is just getting a cheap dedicated server from a company that will let you add more space, RAM, and increase bandwidth. That way as you grow you don't necessarily have to upgrade until it simply becomes too much for the processor itself.

Selecting Vps or Dedicated Server is a good option for this kind of requirement but selecting a right Service provider is also very important.
