I've used GoDaddy in the past (BIG mistake), but have since moved on to Hostgator - they have excellent support and their servers are very fast. You can search around the web for impartial reviews, but watch out for affiliate links trying to sell you. My vote goes for Hostgator

It depends on your need that which one is good for you.
If you've low requirments then you probably go with some good shared hosting providers.
if you are using some high resources then you must go with some Virtual Machine provider, that only depends on your needs.
let us know your needs so that we can guide you more.

Yes, I should have clarified that in my previous post - I use Hostgator's shared hosting plan as I don't have the traffic (yet!) to demand more powerful and expensive hosting. If shared hosting is what you need though, I can highly recommend Hostgator

How much disk space and bandwidth do you require?
What server location do you want?

Millu - First you need to determine exactly what your specific needs are? Do you have enough traffic to require your own dedicated server? If so, you are looking at at least $120 per month or so. If not, you can use a shared server (VPS) and pay around $2 or $3 per month.

If it's an ecommerce website, you need to check the degree of reliability, security and speed of access.I am using HostGator for 5yrs and have no problem yet.

Do we have any options to choose from?
there are 100's and 1000's of webhosting firms, all with different plans and server locations
So, its all up to your requirements- you can choose the one which suits your needs best!
To name a few major webhosting players here:
Godaddy
hostgator
awardspace etc...

In really depends on your needs. If you use shared hosting it will cost a lot less.
Go Daddy works well for me, they are cheap and cost less than five bucks per month.

I'm having big problems with GoDaddy today and appreciate all of the suggestions. I'm sick of sitting on the phone with those guys for hours at a time. Here I come hostgator...

EH, sometimes with the very cheap hosting, the service is not always great. I'm refering to the uptime, support methods...etc
We might have a thread about godaddy hosting on here if you search around. I've been a happy gator fan for many years. I use there live chat support for faster help and can give the tech screenshots of things to make the support experience easier on both the tech and myself in resolving any issue's.
There shared hosting packages are not that expensive anyway's.

Your post is kinda contradictory. A cheap hosting can not be better. Remember the saying that you get what you pay for.

It depends on what kind of website you are looking to host, how much space, and bandwidth you require.
