Why you are looking for such a cheap price solution? “$2.00 per month ” You are going to run forum so at least stretch your budget somehow. Com on!! usually I spend more than $2.00 on my smoking everyday..... Rethink about your strategies and opt a good reliable hosting package from any reputable web host. Good Luck...

Forums tend to get huge over time and take up a lot of resource's. Getting cheap hosting may come back to haunt you later on down the road.

People expect forums to be running 24 hours a day with no hiccups or downtime. You can not get a cheap webhost for $2 and expect a fast loading forum.

This is just my opinion on your issue.

Since we do not allow web hosts to self promote in this section, it would be best to look in our webmaster marketplace in the web hosting section for a webhost to choose. http://www.v7n.com/forums/web-hosting/

Remember you could always add a donate button on your forum for your members to help contribute to the web hosting costs till the forum can turn a profit.

You might be better off looking at free webhosting if you can only afford $2 per month. You will have many problems though in the future.

I have had dedicated servers in the past that were absolutely useless.

When you find a good webhost never try changing them to save a few bucks or it will come back to haunt you

If the forum means anything to you, even if it's small, you should try and have a hosting budget of at least $4. Even then it might be hard to find worthy hosts, and the package is likely to be on the small side. Not that a huge package at a couple of dollars a month is really any different. At the end of the day, the host has to have at least as many accounts on the server as are necessary to cover their own costs.

If you have some kind of traffic, let us say 100 visitors per day - you should be able to make more than enough to cover a decent $7 shared hosting from adsense alone. A $2/month hosting if exists, is never going to be reliable.

For a forum, you'll want a host that has cPanel thus providing some databases to fun the forums script. Just a heads up. As for the space and bandwidth requirements, since you are just starting out, I wouldn't be too worried about those yet.

Bear in mind that hosts offering packages that cheap with 'unlimited usage' are always limited in the T&Cs, are usually slow and if you use more resources than they like they will tend to just kick you off the internet with no questions asked.

I'd be weary of those packages for the amount you want to pay.

Why be so concerned about being dirt cheap when a forum takes hundreds of hours to grow, costs a fortune in time and labour and people always wish to save $1-$2

Mate, get a damn good server and protect your investment. Speed and server specs are crucial to people being happy.......you can cut many things but not server quality.

You're quite right MarkR. Most cheap unlimited packages come with slow performance. However, that's not necessarily a causation, but possibly a coincidence. Given the T&C clauses, a host could quite easily let go of any users that are not profitable to host, and are the cause of constant slowness. Most sites are pretty small, so probably only a couple of percents of customers would be affected, some of which might be persuaded to upgrade to hosting solutions that would be even more profitable to the host.

I think if you have a small budget a shared hosting, isn't not be a good idea, you can start with unmanage VPS, and you can upgarade it anytime if you need more resource..

Let me ask you one thing first. How long you will run in a shared hosting with a forum. Once you cross the limits of resource usage your provider will shut the doors for your website. If it is a new website you may easily find one for some 3 USD or 4 USD. But it is only till you get some good visits. No good host will allow an average traffic forum on their shared servers.

I'd suggest go for a free host if your budget is that low (I'm not being sarcastic).
There are some really good free hosts.

Cheap host does not means bad host, but some cheap hosting provider really does not do their job to provide reliable hosting service for their client. You will need to be careful when you choosing a hosting provider.

And if your forum website is just at the beginner stage, you can always use a cheap and affordable hosting service to build up your forum, but you will need to monitor your forum from time to time as it will need to upgrade your service to higher spec anytime when your forum getting famous and famous.

$2 is too small an amount for shared account, how much more one that will host a forum.
