For shared hosting I prefer Hostgator. They do a decent job of keeping things running and are pretty quick to respond to issues. Dreamhost is ok, but not great. Don't care for their terms of service regarding WordPress plugins, mainly they ban All in One SEO Pack. Granted now there are other SEO plugins for WordPress that work as well or better but I would not be surprised if they ban them as well.

Have had clients on GoDaddy, Network Solutions and BlueHost. GoDaddy and BlueHost were alright when I had to deal with them for the clients. Network Solutions, just don't bother. The only word I can think of to describe Network Solutions is incompetent! Eventually moved that clients sites to a Hostgator account and have not had problems since.

For a VPS or Dedicated I have been very pleased with iWeb. They are located in Canada so they might not be the best for everyone, but I have been very pleased with them. Have very few issues.

I also have a couple of clients and one site personally on Media Temple. It is decent. They need to work on their client communication but other than that the service has been good. A little different since it is not based on one server but a grid.

Would like to try the new GoDaddy grid service but have not had a chance to yet to compare.

I have experience with Bodhost,Ixwebhosting, hostgator,Justhost but i am not satisfied from all of them except hostgator. Hostgator is really great and they have very good support team and its the best thing i can say about their work. And also their prices are fair. I suggest it to anyone who is looking for a hosting company. They also offer 45 days free testing for their shared accounts. Its what i experienced in these years.

I am a search engine optimizer and currently have my hosting through a company called vpswebserver, the guy in there is very helpful and available to sort out any problems (not that i have had any),. .
My view is that even thouh vpswebserver is a small hosting company, its actually a bit better than the big companies, there is a lot more effort and kindess from the company. My rating for this company is 9/10, extremely happy
by the way their website address is [removed].

The only host I've used so far is Webs.com (previously known as FreeWebs) - and I would put them at the top of the "worst" category. Not really sure if they would be considered a host by the caliber of this forum - you just get a visual editor with a handful of apps and widgets to add - no php, sql, ftp, ect. At a discount price of $120 for 2 years, it's way too expensive for the "features" offered. Unresponsive and sluggish support, constant major problems, glitchy editor, very limited access to css or html, no real control of your site (want to use this app? Yes or No - as is only), and yadda yadda.

Wish I could comment on the best site - looking for it now . . .

I think he was more interested in the quality of their service, rather than the URL.

Unfortunately I have never used them, but I think there are close ties between Namecheap and Webhostingbuzz, so researching them both should be a good idea. At the very least they have a common technical manager, though he mentions a single team: http://uk.linkedin.com/in/mattdrussell

I've used both globat.com and hostmonster.com and currently am a hostmonster customer. I think hostmonster is top notch and has More than enough features to support any project you might be doing. I am currently hosting almost 20 websites on 1 account with them because they allow for unlimited domains and subdomains. For example: I am hosting neeleyconstruction.com, nukamedia.com, ohioxa.org, sdcpainters.com, 920px.com etc etc. I would highly recommend using them. Never had a problem and they have good customer service.

Actually i am on RSHosting and I am very pleased with both speed and technical support. In the past I have tried StableHost, HawkHost, HostGator and GoDaddy, but with inferior results.

I used to be with iWeb Technologies (not to be confused with Apple iWeb or mobileme). I still have a few sites on there, but since they changed names to Funio, their support has been absolutely TERRIBLE. I've begun migrating my sites to a mixture of a VPS from Vpsville and a micro EC2 instance from Amazon AWS. As long as you don't mind tinkering with Linux, I highly recommend using a VPS or cloud service and taking a bit more control. I would say that my favourite so far is Amazon EC2. It's just so flexible. You can choose from many different Linux images or even create your own. And right now it's free for a year. The only thing is that you're subject to usage charges if you go over their bandwidth limits.
