WARNING TO ALL PERSONS LOOKING FOR WEBHOSTING

AVOID THE COMPANY CALLED ACE HOST AT ALL COSTS

The story so far:

Ace host were a nice company to talk to and were providing a good stabe service.

However two weeks ago they moved us (were a reseller on there system) to a new server.

Then the problems started.

1) They never told us of the Server (hense IP Address change)
2) When questioned the attitude was 'we dont give a s**t'
3) Piss poor support following the incident
4) Email or should i say IMAP and WEBMAIL have been REALLY unstable since the server move so far they have failed three times.

5) There attitude SUCKS today after the third failure we wrote into them to say about the problems that we were sick of it and wished they would communicate with there customers... Like actually say when there is a problem....

Our other point... Since the NEW servers were put in the system has gone down hill the old kit worked (Begs the question why did they change it)

So finally we got a reply to day..

What can I say this company is a bunch of low life cowboys with the customer service skills of a landmine

There responce was along the lines of

Quote "Our servers are great, SH*T happens, the server was never down"

To my thinking the server was PARTIALLY DOWN

and with an attitude like that... Well put it this way if anyone would care to make us an offer of GOOD QUALITY reseller hosting 10GB Storage 100GB Transfer at a good price... hey folks you got the buisness

All we say is ATTENTION ALL INTERNET HOSTING USERS

They simply said "That account has been terminated.

We had hosted our web-site oe2000.com via a reseller surebrowse.com.
Recently due to a major worm attack we became a victim of a huge SPAM attack.
While the surebrowse guys were trying to recover the situation for us by deleting the junk mails from our site, the people at Ace-Host simply blocked access to our site.
Then they did the most apalling thing ever -
They simply erased all our files and data.
And that too without giving us any warning or notice to take a back-up.

They simply said "That account has been terminated. Account was using excessive amounts of server resources. Emails were bouncing all around because they contained file attachments we do not allow and all the email boxes were full. This caused exim to overload several times due to thousands of bouncing emails associated with this domain.

To uphold the integrity of our service, account was terminated."

Now they are asking us to recreate the account.
When last contacted they said that some rule / agreement was violated.

Does anybody think the Ace-Host people did the right thing?
Is this what customer service is all about?
Is this why Ace-host never reveals its true ownership details like postal address, telephone number etc. to anybody?

I wish everybody who looks forward to hosting themselves with ace-host, to know about this incidence and brace themselves up for what is in store!

No Major problems with Ace-Host.net

I use Ace-host.net for my webhosting.

I have no major problems. It did take a while to set up my website (1 day). I requested a change in website name and that took a week with repeated requests, and they charged me another 10 bucks.

I have never ever seen their "online support" up, so I believe it's just a joke to keep us webmasters on our toes :wink:

The uptime is pretty good, but sometimes there is a problem with download pop3 e-mail.

I'm impressed with the movies and the options provided for the webspace. The price is great.

Another problem I have is that when using the control panel to access the website, access is through a specified port (such as http://www.mywebsite.com:8888), and my company firewall does not allow that, so I can't work on it from office, but only from home.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the services provided.

i've hosting ace-host since 1 week ago,.
i observered this hosting for almost two months ago,. i remember it is only once wrong linked websites,.. when i ask something they answers with a day,..

who are they i don't know,. i confused their service,. if anyone exactly knows please leave your message here,..

I've been hosted there over a year now i guess it is. I think i've been down more than 5 minutes maybe twice, and that was just right at first when they were getting things up and going.

I have had 6 sites on there so far... no problem yet. It is what i will use for all my client sites just because i get tired of hearing them complain about downtime with other host.

Firefox can't find the server at www.magicalmethods.com.

* Check the address for typing errors such as
ww.example.com instead of
www.example.com

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

We are currently going through a serve upgrade. We are moving away from older, slower servers, to a new one with more ram, dual xeon 3Ghz processors, and more diskspace. Over this period of time, you may experience some abnormal performance, results, or services down. This should be stabalized within a few hours, and once done, your site will be faster then ever!

Lot of Junk emails are coming. It seems that spam box has been disabled. I am not able to find spam box enabling option in the cpanel.

There is one option for the white list. There used to be an option for filtering unwanted emails by setting spam index....

We are currently using spamhaus blacklist databases for spam protection. Additionally, your can achieve the same effects with mail filters in cpanel. We have spam assassin disabled for performance reasons during the move. Once the server has been stablized and is operating normally, we will once again enable it.

We now have a program that will test your email difficulties and acknowledge if it is server side or client side. If it is client side, there will be a list of troubleshooting tips that will solve your problem.

I thought that the server would be really fast after moving. But to my dismay the server is very slow and I am waiting continuously to upload the files.

This is endless wait. It never happened with Ace-host. I am losing business due to this reason. Slowness of your server is hitting me in my belly.

Unfortunately, your website was using excessive server resources, which caused performance degradations for other clients on the server. Therefore, our system engineers had to immediately suspend your account to uphold the integrity of our service. Since your account is hosted under a shared hosting environment, it negatively impacts other websites on the server.

This is a terms of service violation.

Customer agrees that Customer shall not use excessive amounts of server resources (such as, but not limited to, CPU time & memory usage) on any of Acenet's servers. No backup service

A WARNING TO ANYONE USING ACE-HOST.NET SERVICE.

They don't have any kind of backup. I used to loose data of several websites with them and suffer a great lost.

I think that's enough for your consideration!

ACE-HOST.NET IS SECOND TO NONE!

As of the summer of 2005, ace-host.net hosting and reseller accounts are protected by raid-10.

Plus, MySQL databases are archived daily, weekly, and monthly.

pradeepkumar27's support ticket seems pretty genuine to me.

I know that this kind of stuff happens once in a while with any company but usually, they will go that extra mile to stop posts like this appearing - Just good business practice due to the fact that you can't win them all.

Obviously, they didn't.

Ace-Net - Sad but true

After 10+ years of bouncing from host to host, I though these guys were finally my answer. I had great uptime, response, quick support etc. for the past 2+ years. I have been steering family and friends here.

All of a sudden a day ago, I get an email that they are changing locations, and my server will be down for a few hours over the weekend .. no biggie.

Today I find out they had Linux issues, and lost a whole server with NO WAY to recover anything but the SQL databases (assuming I know how to reconfigure all my PHP scripts to talk tothe restored ones !!!)

ALL the HTML and data are lost as well as ALL THE E-mail accounts and messages, and the tech support response was "F^&%%K You, you should have backed that up, and we are not responsible!!!!"

I have never seen such a horrid response in 30 years if IT !!!

I will gladly listen to any recommendations, as I LOVED these guys for the past two years, but as of today, I would move ANYWHERE else ... I would love to see a class action suit, if only to set a precident about the deceptive advertising.

Sure, they can guarantee 99.999 uptime for their SERVERS but they don;t give a CRAP about the website and data that are hosted on them. Talk about WEASEL legal loopholes, this is the worst !!

Well where do I start. I am a reseller with ACENET INC (www.ace-host.net). I have a huge package of 40GB and 400GB bandwidth.
I signed up in 2003 and things went ok for a while. Then little things kept happening. I hosted an email service through a php script and an attached mysql database. All worked well. I got some customers and was happy I got that far (everybody knows how hard it is to get customers these days). The script is based on a catch all email address. The script will then check and forwarded proper emails upon customer. Turns out the script didn't work after some time and I was asking if they could look into that and fix it.
First they said we do not support 3rd party scripts. That was it no effort of trying to find out if it might be their problem. I said, fine but why should it stop working all of a sudden? Explained to support the way it functions and he said, well we cancelled the CATCH ALL email function because of spam issues.

This is a huge issue at ACENET INC. they just do things without notifying you. This major change rendered my email service USELESS. All customers were angry and of course I refunded all money they paid because I care and on top of it I felt very. They do not inform you about anything.

Later I had a regular content management system running and uploads/downloads didn't seem to work anymore. Turned out they changed the php version from 4 to 5 (there are some major changes from php4.x to 5.x). Needless to say the upload/download component was just not working on php 5. Again without notification. This is really BS if I may say.

It came to a first climax end of 2005 as I recognized my website isn't working anymore. All my client websites within my reseller account didn’t work either. I asked for help. You get prompt answers but mostly they don't seem to read things properly and you have to ask again.
Anyways turns out they had a corrupted hard drive and my server got hit. To this day I think they use/used cheap and outdated equipment.
Well they didn't tell me. I had to ask to find out. This is NO SERVICE.
They lost everything, files and databases. I lost many customers and I can't blame them for that. I apologized to my customers and refunded the money they paid, again because I care. ACENET INC said this can happen and that was about it. +

I asked to cancel my account because my trust in them is gone. They negotiated bumped me up to 40 GB space, 400GB bandwidth and added 4 month to my plan. They moved me to a server with raid-10 backup and asked me to stay and give them another chance. I said ok and said bring it on.

Now a little more than 6 month later the first time I get an email notification from ace-host:

“Dear Valued Client,

This is the second email regarding our server migration taking place tomorrow, Saturday July 8th, 2006. Specific times for your server are detailed below.
We have determined the server order for the migration. Your server:

ice.securenet-server.net

Will be going down sometime between the hours of:

3 PM - 7 PM EST

for roughly one hour. After the estimated period, you should notice normal operation and all service should have stablized.
If you have any issues after the time frame, please feel free to contact us at our helpdesk.

Acenet Engineering”

First this is the first I have received not the second email as they mention. So far my paid hotmail account has not let me down ever so I really believe this was their only email.

I got this as I was out of office for a couple of days. I thought this is cool I get my first notification of something since I signed up in 2003. We have 2006!!!! The way it sounds it seems to be a piece of cake and nothing to worry about. I didn't realize I could have been more wrong.
I notified my clients that there will be a one hour down time in the above mentioned time frame.
Next day a 3 clients complained the server is still not online. I contacted ACENET INC support asking what is going on. I got this answer:

“We are currently working on your server, this issue should be resolved later today. The full extent of the problem is unknown at the moment, and an accurate ETA is unavailable at this time.

- Andy V.” (TECH SUPPORT)

I knew I was in trouble! I kept bugging them and got answers like:

“Hello Bert,
Becuase of issues that were encountered with this particular server ...
- Nora A.” (BILLING PERSON)

I called in and am still puzzled why they don't offer a 1-800 number. All they have is this number: Phone: (734) 354-6936. They DO NOT publice offer a contact number on their website. I only found it by accident in my invoice email.

But all they praise is their way to handle the files on the server. They say they have no guaranteed backups and nobody else offers guaranteed backups in the business. WRONG there are plenty that do offer backups.

With no word did I hear an honest apology. She (Nore A.) only pointed fingers at me by saying the customer is responsible for backing up the databases and files of their server. Nothing you would expect hearing from a person that gets paid by you, as a client. She too repeated several times that they have an above average backup system. I decided this goes nowhere asked for a refund just to be told even though I just renewed my one year payment a couple days before, that there are no refund. So I flushed hundreds of dollars down the drain for services not even rendered yet? They aren’t even willing to negotiate regarding refunds which in my case should be given no questions asked. She and an online answer referred me to:

How can you conduct business like this. You receive a one year payment in advance and you are not going to refund it even though the services are not required anymore? OBSURD

Getting back to the issue of me trying to find out why the server move is taking so long. Needless to say I then got the information I didn't want to hear and feared to hear:

“Dear Acenet Client,

We regret to inform you that the home partition on ice.securenet-server.net was lost. When the server was powered back on, boot required a file system check on the home partition. Once completed, the server rebooted (as normal) only to require another file system check on the home partition. This went on three times.
It appeared it was going to be an endless loop of file system checks and reboots, so one of the attending data center technicians commented out the home partition in the file system tab. When the server came online, home would not mount until after a manual file system check. The home partition ended up mounting, but it was completely empty. Unfortunately, raid-10 cannot be of any aid in a situation like this, so you will need to re-upload your home files.
The good news, if any, is that your MySQL databases are fully intact. We do backup all system configuration files and MySQL databases daily, weekly, and monthly; if mysql databases were corrupted or lost, we would be able to restore them.
