You should be thankful that you were allowed to eat all resources on a cheap shared server till now. You shouldn't even think about VPS, get a good dedicated server with server management. Something like Rackspace will be good, since you need lot of help, but that is going to cost you a lot. Liquidweb, may be.

It makes sense. In their terms of service it probably said there was a threshold. I guess it is time to move to a different host who can accommodate you better.

Today I guess I reached unlimited, because it's been suspended because my site as grown too large. I knew this was coming eventually.

I have no idea how to program a dedicated server and was considering a VPS but read in a previous thread that those aren't great for high traffic volume.

I get 8 to 10 million monthly page views and around a million monthly uniques.

It's an ecard site, so there are a lot of images moving around.

Any advice about what steps I should take next? My site has grown way beyond my skill set.

Thanks for any help.
i am also using same ( All Unlimited stuff shared webhost ) and has only 10000 visitors per month and still my webhost kept suspended my account from time to time saying that i should upgrade to VPS . i am only using 8% of the bandwidth from the bandwidth what my cpanel shows me 99999MB. I think that my web host is kidding saying that my website is using too much resources.

Your bandwidth/diskspace use isn't particularly relevant.....it's memory and CPU that's the criteria.

All these so called "unlimited" providers will invoke this clause in their TOS.

So even if unlimited did exist (which it doesn't) you'll hit memory, CPU, and possibly inode limits first.

OP you really think there's such thing as unlimited? usually, when you reach a certain percentage of system resources. depending on host, your account will be suspended just like your case. i would stay away from these hosts as they tend to oversell and the quality is really crap.

I wouldn't be too hasty to consider a dedicated server. A jump from shared to dedicated is far too big. You don't even know the range of resources you really need yet. Get a mid-range VPS and you can adjust from there.

What is the name of the hosting company you're at now? I really would like to know who suspended the site so I can stay away from them!

Need to move to a dedicated solution. Shared can only get you so far.
