Exclamation An Unbreakable Website

1- I was wondering how some websites never go down even when they contain illegal materials?

Like byhero.com realdl.com magazinedown.com etc... They have been serving for years and they have many many illegal content. I can connect to those websites from US. They never went down.

Is there anyway to secure your website like that even if the site has illegal content?

2- My second question is, how wikileaks never went down even though they have the most hated website by governments?

Most sites that are violating US law purchase and maintain their domain registration outside of the US. They also host in countries that do not enforce US laws and regulations. Thus far gambling sites are the only ones the government has tried to seize.

In most cases I suspect the owners of those sites also live outside US jurisdiction and have no plans to travel to the states.

Then would you recommend a reliable, dependable outside source to get/transfer your domain/hosting?

Also as far as i know Us is also very sensitive about child porn. They usually take action against those websites too.

So basically, what you are saying is that those websites are not unbreakable, US just ignores those websites. Therefore they survive.

I don't move in those circles at all so I can't help you. Look for offshore hosting or possibly in the Netherlands that is all that I recall. Even the majority of those hosts do not allow child porn. Very few reputable places do.

Keep in mind that if you live in the US you are subject to the laws of the land. Also keep in mind that when you enter into business transaction outside the US you have none of the protections of US law and are subject to the laws where you are transacting.

I suspect the "ignoring part" as you called it is more of a "not yet".

I have no clue what you want to do but I am willing to bet that some version of SOPA will pass.

My plan is to have a website where people can talk freely about a specific government. Especially about militaristic structures and actions etc... so my ideas are more about politics. Something like wikileaks.

What is SOPA?

Just bear in mind that when you step into that sort of area you immediately set yourself up as a target for hacking attempts, and even worse, DDoS attacks.

And you could find yourself in the position where no host will take you except the niche DDoS mitigation companies. And you're then talking big bucks!

So I'd think this through very carefully before you proceed.

PS: I am really pleased to hear that you aren't into kiddie porn.

1. The sites with illegal content could be protected by terms of service clauses that work in their favor for their purposes.

2. You can find an offshore server in a country that does not abide by various laws. Wikileaks did it.

I'm pretty sure Swedish providers aren't required to keep any logs or provide any information to the authorities, so that might be a good start. As far as I understand, Sweden has been the most protective of Internet privacy and free speech. Mind you, there are dark forces at work in the EU that are looking to "harmonize" the laws across Europe to be more restrictive. I guess it depends who would be upset with you for the content of your site and what they'd be able to arrange with any given country. Look into it, be careful, and do it as anonymously as possible. Good luck!

Wikileaks used to be hosted on PRQ.se. They say on their website that as long as it's legal in Sweden, they'll refuse to take it down, unless you're spamming. They seem to have shared hosting starting at €10/month.

I've never used them, mind you, so I can't personally vouch for them.

There are a lot of sites that infringe copyrights, but they won't get attention unless the issue becomes a priority to the government. That combined with great server maintenance and you should be fine until you become too big or the government thinks you are a threat.

Lots of illegal sites are registered and run on US hosts. If the owner is outside US, there is actually nothing to worry. If it is hosted in countries like Russia, China etc, even easier.
