You would need a dedicated IP when you do online transactions which would need SSL. SSL need a unique IP address for your website.

Dedicated IPs don't help your CEO, I'm not sure why people think this. They are needed for VPS or SSL and that is pretty much it.

Its hard to have them for proxy use.

I do prefer dedicated IP address because that is the only option for us as we use SSL (secure socket layer) encryption for our website and SSL needs a website to be hosted with a dedicated IP address.

As far as SPAM and dedicated I.P. addresses go if your on a shared server but you have a dedicated (unique) I.P. address assigned to you your email will still be black listed as the email server sends and receives through a single (shared) I.P.. You may have your email settings set to use mail.yourdomain.com but it still gets sent on that shared i.p. thats designated in the mail server config.

So saying that because of spammers sending emails out and you have leased that dedicated i.p. you won't be black listed is incorrect. The only way to get around that problem is to have a VPS or dedicated server to which only your domains have access to.

Just my 2 cents

If you have the budget, then go for dedicated IP.

Hi, in case of SEO, Dedicated IP is better, it protects you from being banned by Search Engine. Because, in shared IP, if some one will do spaming then, search engine might punish the site by banning all the request from that IP, so that all the web site with same IP will not work in the search engine.

if you can afford a dedicated server and ip then go for it. It will pay off in the long run in terms of less downtime. But if you are a small business with not too much traffic to your site, shared will do.

Hi,

Based on my experience, I think dedicated IP is the best than others. But this according with your conditions. You can try both of them, and select the best ones.
