It depends on what your needs are. I expect you're looking for shared hosting...I like HostGator.com (but I'm biased there haha). MediaLayer and MDDHosting are other good ones to check out.

Exactly..

If you want something cheap and easy to use, try Bluehost or Hostgator or Dreamhost or something like that. For less than $10 a month you'll get all the one-click installs and automated email servers you need.

If you want something fast and strong and reliable - and you don't mind building LAMP servers from scratch - you should go with Linode or Slicehost or some other heavy-duty VPS closer to the $20 range.

It all depends on your own experience. What is good for might be really bad for you. Try out and see what fits your need.

There are number of good web hosting providers, if you could let us know about your exact requirement then we would be able to suggest you the right hosting company.

For a datacenter you can't beat OVH or Hetzner for quality cheap servers outside the US.

I like HostGator most!
I have tried Godaddy, JustHost, HostGator, DreamHost, Ixwebhosting, Ipower, Ipage and Arvixe. Each company has its strong point. But in general, HostGator is my first choice.
HostGator's online support is quite good. I love its cPanel where I can import and export very big files and databases easily. (very inconvenient to do this work with Godaddy, Dreamhost and Ixwebhosting)
The price is inexpensive when you have a promotion coupon. If you like it, you can take this coupon code with a 25% discount: OFF25HGTPV

I am not a big fan of GoDaddy. A lot of their customers who end up using a moderate amount of server resources have problems. If your site is very small, you'll probably be fine.

If your looking around, searching for reviews at WebHostingTalk.com is a good way to learn about hosts.

I do have 2+ years experience with Siteground web hosting services. I have used different hosting plans and every plan is good according to our needs.

i use the non-giant hosting company, due to they provide more services such as helping to transfer big file and using of other php tools, install other program for me in my site etc. if you need pure hosting, of course, just the above company other members suggested.
i use one-stop-digital.com

Avoid their web hosting, but domain registrations are fine with them. If you are looking for shared hosting here are some hosts I've used that are reliable HostGator, HawkHost, BlueHost, DownTownHost. If you need a VPS check out InMotionhosting, Knownhost, WiredTree.

I think it's important to know what category you mean - shared, resellling, VPS or dedi.

For share hosting I would go with DreamHost, I have been using them for 2 years and have not had any problem. It has the best support available, in my experience.

Since we're on the topic, I've got a pretty specific question:

Does anyone know of a VPS that is fast, yet very easy to use? I like Linode for speed and reliability, but I'm looking for something that is quicker to set up (especially when it comes to email).

So... is there a good CPanel VPS with high speeds, or am I asking for something that just doesn't exist?

Having a control panel installed like cPanel can make it very easy to use. There are also various companies that provided different levels of server management for free.

If you are referring to data transfer rate, the bottleneck is typically with the clients connecting to the server and not the other way around. If you're talking about latency, this depends on your location relative to the data center as well as the connectivity of both the data center and your ISP.

Unofficial (rumor?) news is that HostGator just got sold to a bigger company for $225 million. Hope EIG doesn't screw up a good thing.

There are many web provider all over the world , but to choose the best you have to focus on some criteria like:

- security protocols used by the hosting provider
- Check if the hosting provides to his customers a live chat, a telephone support or assistance via email
- Check that your site will still be accessible by internet users
- Ensure that the packages offered are : competitive and reasonable, for the services being requested in terms of quality / price ratio

The perfect web hosting comp is Hostgator because of its cheap plan as well as good service, the acquisition won't make any difference because such acquisition is common in now a days and EIG is big group and they won't get Hostgator brand name down.....
