Uncommon Hosting?

I believe there are about 50000 Hosting companies worldwide.

But, Most of the people talk only about top 10 or 20 hosting.
Why not rest?

Because many hosting company launched and closed within few months because not able to provide quality support and service, its not an easy job to open the web hosting company because now a days the economy is also down and its very hard to found out the clients as well

I think because they are the best in providing quality and stable hosting services.

Hi, it's not that other companies do not provide Reliable services. I would say that those web hosting companies might have started or launched long years back or in existence long back. There for they are well known to all..

There is lot of competition in Hosting.. Off course there are many companies competing and coming forward in Hosting business..

I thinks high competition is the one factor, why many hosting company can't give best service for all customer.

I just think it's the support and the top notch hardware and software that the hosting company use's. Go for cheap will give your customers some problems and more headache for you the owner and your staff to resolve issue's and keep the customer from leaving.

All the huge hosting companies didn't start out huge but they got in the game early or made the correct business decision's to get huge. (It may cost them a huge investment but those Hosting companies was serious about there business and took the risk)'

Small hosting companies could get huge if they buy out there competitors but that could be a huge investment.

Think of it in terms of music. If you're not in the top 20, most people will soon stop mentioning your song, and eventually might even forget it was popular at one time.

That being said, the top 10-20 hosts pay a lot on advertising, compared to the others, both for proper ads, and by paying affiliates for sales they bring in. Many of the smaller, but otherwise quite good hosts, don't advertise at all. They're happy with the free referrals they get from their current customers.

Because the rest are just wannabe's and couldn't keep up with the competition.

Like what some of the members said, it is part of business survival. Those that stay long enough would have built sufficient branding and therefore more frequently mentioned. Better stay away from unreliable or unknown hosting companies. You won't want to risk your sites from security or shut down after a few months.

One common thing between these top 10, 20 hosting companies is that they have been around for a long time. Once they started off their business, it was good old days with no competition and they survived. Now they are multimillionaires if not billionaire companies. The amount of money being spent on advertising is one thing that a very few can afford. Even if you give the best customer service, yet you can not compete with them. Since, you have not spent as much on the advertising part. It is all about advertising and marketing these days.

Also they spend more budget on promotion and of course get ROI from it
