Spaces in the filename?

I was wondering if it makes a difference if you name your html files with spaces in the names. If I wanted to host with him that I would be required to have web page names with no spaces. He said having a space in the name causes errors when people try to call up the pages on your site.

1.) Is that correct that it can cause errros?
2.) How big of a deal is it if it does cause errors and why? Does it really cause a bunch of errors, or only one in a million?

%20 or "+" (sometimes) work for spaces in URLs, although it is best to use a "-" instead.

It's really not advised to use spaces in file names. Using a dash (-) between words is a much better option. Is there a reason why you want to use the spaces?

Hello,

Thankx for the advices. Actually, my clients are using the spaces and their webpages are not loading as usual sometimes. And, we do not use spaces.

I'd like to know the real problem with the spaces on file names under URI !
