What does "concurrent processes" mean

I have a client who is about to launch a product with the help of kickstarter.com, and they are expecting a big jump in the number of people who will be viewing their site.

Like a good service provider, I asked my web hosting company (ventraip.com.au) some particulars.

My question: How many simulated simultaneous users should I set up for a load testing service like loadimpact.com if I want to know how much my hosting account can take on?

Their answer: Your service is limited to a maximum of 40 concurrent processes by [...] CloudLinux.

How should I understand their answer? Do they mean that there should be no more than 4 browser viewers at any one time viewing the site?

Not having heard the term in relation to a hosting account I searched the knowledge base at two different hosts that I use and did not find it. Google using the search term "concurrent processes" with quotes provided some interesting reading and lead me to this page http://support.hostgator.com/article...rocesses-limit which seems to explain it fairly well.

I eagerly await other answers.

That is fairly good number for a shared host. Having 10 vistors at a time doesn't mean that 10 page requests every second.

Concurrent processes are simaltenious processes running from one domain at a certain period of time and causing the server overload. This can be for examples 25 processes to run some php scripts at the same time from different locations.

I have an example when the user overloads the server by running a lot of concurrent processes at the same time:

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
