The support service I would rate a 9

When I used it VPS maybe was as developed, I had a lot of files and ran into some weird limits a few times, and just didn't like how it all worked. Maybe its better now.

It may not be the VPS technology. It may be the host running VPS on a machine that is more suitable for shared hosting. VPS takes up a lot of resources and CPU usage. I advice all of my customers that want to use their servers for VPS hosting to buy at least Dual CPU configurations. Single CPU configurations just get too bottle necked, and thats when the problems start piling up

I ran into a max file limit as one site a user was doing has thousands of files, apperently there was a limit on the number of physical files a VPS could handle back then as they had to up it a few times and in the mean time it made it crash..
