Go to a few hosting review sites and read what people have said, there is a high chance that a host has written positive things about himself so you are looking for negative reviews because those will tell you the truth.

How much are you looking to spend? You can get a powerful Dedicated Server with single CPU with 4 cores for $99 a month these days, and a few hosts offer management for that price as well. And some you can get a SSD with it, too, or a 1 TB mechanical hard drive.

You might as well list your budget and requirements and go from there. There are some cheap VPS hosts out there and there is one that is very cheap but they have thousands of VPS customers sharing the same data connection so load time is usually not very good.

What is your Budget for VPS or server per month? Can you be more specific about your requirements?

Web site hosting no longer needs to be a long and tedious search, so you need to do your best in order to choose the right web host. I can say that findmeavps.com is free service for vps hosting search - hope their experts will help you to choose the best solution according to your specific requirements.

You're right to think that a lot of reviews websites are fake. Either they're created by the hosting provider themselves, or by another (clever) person who has all his affiliate links setup there.

I understand the complication of finding a reliable web hosting provider without getting fooled by their marketing schemes. For this, you should always ask these questions, and only then consider them:

- Do you own your own hardware? If not, they are resellers.
- What is the datacenter?
- Operational years? Also you can see when their domain was firstly registered. Any hosting provider that started in 2014 is highly unreliable since a lot of them close the first year.
- How much speed guaranteed and how much transfer guaranteed?
- What is the CPU?

Knowing these questions will put you a lot closer to finding the right hosting provider.

If you are getting huge traffic then better to choose Dedicated server instead of shared or vps server. The most popular is Hostgator which is fine until you have really huge traffic (over 20,000 + hits daily).

Review sites are not reliable. I'll agree with @lendPL that you should check the negative reviews. You will know the pitfalls of that company and can decide which is less worse I would suggest you to check godday or hostgator VPS plans.

Yes reviews are manipulated. The best you can do is try few provides one at a time before you get the PREFECT host for you. Just a small recommendation is that go with SSD drives as SSD's are much faster then normal HDD.

You can ask the VPS provider to run . . .

dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=1048576 count=2048

If you get good read / write speed + decent network + support then go for it.
Best of luck with your VPS search.

The word "good" or "best" doesn't exist in the hosting field..there's always pros and cons on every single company even the big companies..i've tried around 56 vps companies and i didn't find the good one yet cauz it doesn't exist ..however i will recommend you to get a dedicated server this will be a good choice

I don't really understand more about datacenter and how to own hardware

Also if you have experience about web hosting, can you share any extra info about things you mentioned below
