Hosting company!?!

Does anyone know if the hosting company you're with can affect you search engine rankings?

The reason I ask is that my host (oneandone) is based in Germany and I have noticed when searching Google.de my rankings are much better than UK rankings.

So, I was wondering, if I transferred to a UK domain, would there be much chance in increasing my rankings?

if they block Googlebot like Godaddy hosting your site won't be indexed in Google (well i think that john posted a thingy about gaddy hosting, i think they're blocking some spiders)
