New guy/very confused

Hello every one.

I am new to to PHP and myPHPAdmin.

Please explain to me as if I were a child.

I have a hosting server that has mySQL and PHP installed and running. It is Windows 2000 platform.

It was bundeled with a control pannel software. So I can just log in and connect to myPHPadmin page.

I have created and empty database with 2 different tables.

Every thing is good.

Now I am using Dreamweaver to connect.

I do not want to install PHP or MySQL in my local computer. Just want to develop and connect to what is online.

Attached is mySQL.jpg with the items to connect.

I think this is how it goes??

The connection name is "conLogin".

MySWL Server , Hmmm I have no idea? I gues it is mysql1.shocksites.com Well I know that shocksites.com is my site. and do I add mysql at the beggining????
If not how do I find out what I need to put?
Is it in correct info in myPHPAdmin page? If so where?

The username is "director00008"

The password is added

The database is "avatar00008"

I keep getting a "502 code, bad gateway" message when I test it out.

I have no idea what is wrong.

Does the hosting server need to open a port or somting? If so which one or where on my server do I find it?

Any help would be great.

Thanks
-Troy

Not unless you have mysql. as a subdomain of your site. Use either your site shocksites.com or your webservers ip address.

Ask your host if all else fails what to use as your mysql server address for remote mysql access.

Possibly. If they have blocked the mysql port from communicating/listning to the internet then you might have to ask them to open up that port to your ip address at home. But only do this if all of the above fails.

Thanks for your kind words.

I am sorry for not being clear.

I have the hosting server, it is mine. So I need to find out how the MySQL really works. It is set up properly and I have created and empty database with 2 empty tables, but that is as far as I can go.

I can log on to the hosting server(terminal services) to check these things out, but I just do no understand what I am looking for. I am talking about which port is being used for mysql and any other importaint informaiotn to connect remotely.

I have tried the ip address and shocksites.com with the same error as described at the begining.

Again I am trying to log in from a remote computer.

Any help?
