SSL Certificate

Web security has become a prime concern and has become a matter of "No Compromise". SSL Certificates have offered a great help to the site owners and have come up as an ideal choice for someone who wants to secure their website. However, if the free SSL certificates were appropriate then all the leading e-commerce websites would be using them, right? But they don’t and there are plenty of reasons for it like ( Reduced Site Speed Performance, minimal protection and more).

Paid SSL certificates help accelerate conversion rates on websites by implanting an element of trust in the customer’s mind which ultimately escalates revenues. Although you pay a bit for it up front, you will surely savor the fruits later. After all, no good thing comes for free… right?

the idea of free is not always the best idea, so a small cost is sometimes , the better idea

Do not think about free options to get SSL, it's about security and integrity of your website. Contact your hosting provider, they will give you good discount on SSL certificate and they only integrate.

As per my experience Comodo is popular for SSL ( Secured Socket Layer) services.

My web host provides free SSL.
It should be a webhosts duty to do this.
What is the point in paying more for SSL than for hosting.
Its a rip off, so either don't use it or find a host that provides it.

With a simple search on Google, you can find web hosting companies that provide free Let's Encrypt SSL. ( Type web hosting with free SSL, Let's Encrypt and see what you can get). By the way, you don't have to renew it every 3 months, for web hosting companies, they renew the SSL automatically, so you don't have to worry about that. Big companies Like WP Engine and others have SSL for free, there is no big difference with the premium SSL. I suggest using the live chat options with any web host and ask them if they offer SSL for free or not. The majority of companies offer Let's Encrypt, now.

You have three options

1) Comodo free ssl certificate
2) Let's Encrypt free SSL
3) Many web hosting companies offering free SSL certificate on yearly base plans, you can google it.

Are there any benefits by having a SSL certificate for your website if it's just a simple website (just a presentation site)?

I'll suggest don't go with free. SSL may not be essential but it would still be better for your customer's privacy.

Let’s Encrypt is a collaborative project with Linux Foundation and new certificate authority sponsored by Mozilla, Akamai, SiteGround, Cisco, Facebook, etc. which offers SSL Certificate in free. This is great to save cost to get it implemented in a non-production environment.
It’s automated that means you don’t have to spend time in creating CSR and send to CA authority to get it signed. It all happens in the background on your web servers.

Best Regards

SSL certificates

Yes, there are many hosting providers available on the Internet who provide free SSL certificates. You can Google and find out the managed hosting providers like Kinsta, Cloudways, WPEngine, etc.
