As for the domain registrar you may look at these ones: namecheap.com, enom.com, registerfly.com. They are rather reputible companies.

I suggest eNom! I use NameCheap and eNOM. But am goign to move all my domains to eNom soon!
I can create sub-reseller accounts on enom if you want to get a better rate than you can from signing up on them yourself (without paying a bunch) let me know i'll set you up with an accnt for free.

Ahh I'm the opposite. I've used both and will stick with namecheap.

NameCheap is actually through eNom, enom has a bunch more options/controls than enom in my opinion... especially for resellers and that sort of thing.
(enom is cheaper too for me)

eNom is the largest registrar so I'm sure it's serious Which is unfortunate but they are a HUGE company.

Are we talking in terms of most number of .com domain names?
In terms of that, Go Daddy's #1. Followed by Enom, then Network Solutions.

I will recommend godaddy and namecheap, in that order. Why would you want to move away from godaddy?
Godaddy is actually good for domain names - except for all the promotion offers before you checkout. You can get the domain names pretty cheap too, if you use some promo codes.

I can actually give at least 4 reasons, though I wrote them extensively in my
own blog. Shorthand is they have 4 administrative charges for 4 scenarios.

I have used Cheap-domainregistration.com for about seven years now. No problems ever. I'd recommend it.

I am different then everyone else here on this issue. I have had domains with all of the above mentioned, but I have moved all my domains to one registrar and have over 100 domains with them. I use Dynadot as my domain host now for many reasons, but mostly due to the ease of use offered by their control panel and great customer service they have provided me with. I am able to call them toll free anytime with any issue if I have one and they are always friendly and helpful. Also their services are ever expanding so I find more that I can use them for as time goes. Obviously you have to go with who makes you comfortable, but I highly recommend you at least talk to them through their customer service number and consider them.
Good Luck!

Dynadot is a great little hands on registrar.. the UI is easy to operate as well.
I recommend Moniker.com if you need a professional choice. Their 1-800 number is posted and always gets a real body on the other end without a machine.. their creeping up the ladder as a top registrar as well. At the moment I only have 436 domains with them but am moving another thousand this year over there. The user interface works great for bulk changes, domain forwarding is free, simple, and works fast.. they submit dns frequently as well.
As for the godaddy, enom, namecheap, registerfly crew.. be very carefull with your premium domains. I've had problems with them including lost domains. registrfly has had some real problems handling support and theres alot of talk going on now about them. the others too. As for moniker, I've never heard a squeek from anyone about them. The regular price on the main page looks high, but if you explore and pay in advance you can get as low as 6.95 a domain there.
Good luck

What happened with your experience with godaddy that makes you want to switch. I have been using them for 3 years and I have had no problems, also used name cheap, ev1, enom, 1&1.
Really never had a major problem with any registrars.

I tried hosting sites with their service for one. Having too much traffic wasnt appreciated on their shared hosting plans I'm guessing. Needless to say they advertise you can have 250gb space and 250gb bandwidth. They state the cpu and other information. By all rights the daily bandwidth i used was inside the offered plan. They shut me down without warning and only after i noticed days later did i realize i lost a great deal of popularity having my site not come up for the visitors. I phoned them immediately and they told me it took too much and it wasnt acceptable. I mentioned their plan and how i was within the limitations but that didnt matter to them. This happened twice. You can do a search in google and find some issues of recent where they suspended domains to close sites hosted elswhere. Judge and Jury issue. To be honest a registrar cant do that, but godaddy is a giant now and hard to hit back. I make every effort to support the underdogs with integritty and good service/prices. My favorite registrar is moniker.com. The user interface is tops and service is immediate. Always a live body at the 1-800 number without a machine.
There are many stories but you can search for them, they are available. I used to have hundreds of domains with godaddy and moved them out for these reasons. Aside from the Judge and Jury issues with godaddy and even google you cannot support the giants. In the long run you will have less freedom (the long run in internet years is the life of a mosquito). Godaddy and enom are also major players in the price of domain registrations going up in this year coming. You need to find smallfry to support and do it quick and tell everyone.
I should add that when godaddy suspends a domain, the domain resolves to their parked service of which they earn revenue with no payments to you.
