How do I install AW Stats on any hosting account (that has php or whatever it needs)?

You could find hosting with a professional hosting company. They usually have it pre-installed.

No, I wan't to install it on accounts I create. The people who manage my server aren't thrilled about tons of AW Stats running. I wan't to install it on my own on certain accounts I create. Or maby I can get someone to help with it whenever I need to install it. Anyone want to help, I can give you space or graphics or something?

Needs CGI/perl

AWstats is not that complex to install. You just install it once and then just modify a conf file for each domain you want the stats to run for. THen just setup a cron job to run the script with the proper peramiters.

I'd highly recommend finding a host that already runs AWStats - it will make your life a whole lot lot easier. It really shouldn't be hard to find one either.

Well, Dreamhost is a professional hosting company yet they don't provide stats of any kind.

I tried installing awstats and could never get it to work properly, all this crap about ssh and cron jobs.

Any new hosting I need definitely won't be with them, although I like them for everything else, I just like cpanel and awstats and fantastico. I guess I'm old fashioned.

If you don't like awstats you could I suppose put a little <img> at the bottom of every page with the src as a php file, that php file could create store the $_SERVER variable in a row in a database, and then you could create your own statistics program?
