Yahoo to Godaddy Transfer

I thought that perhaps I had found a loophole out of the ugliness that is Yahoo's Small Business hosting/domain services. A transfer to Godaddy.

Problem #1... most people find that getting an auth code out of Y! is next to impossible. However, they now post it for you in your domain control panel, so you don't have to wait on them any longer.

Problem #2... I'm at this stage of the Godaddy transfer:

Quote:
Pending Current Registrar Approval
Accept transfer at current registrar
So am I waiting for approval from Yahoo who I registered my domain through... or approval from MelbourneIT, the Registrar that Yahoo works with? Because if it's Y! then I don't think it will happen

How long does this part of the transaction normally take under good circumstances? it's only been about 24 hours so far.

Assuming this is a .com - you can expect the transfer to complete in about 5 days (total).

The .com transfer process is:
1. Provide EPP (auth. code)
2. Email is sent to domain registrant (as per whois) to confirm auth. of domain transfer
3. Domain is released by current registrar to new registrar (which usually takes way too long! ~ 3-5 days)

Hope this helps

OK, I got an email from Godaddy for each of the domains in the beginning, that was supposed to be sent based upon WHOIS. That got the ball rolling. Then I had to provide the auth code... which I did. And now they all say waiting for approval from registrar.

so it sounds like I've done everything on my part and I'm justing waiting on MelbourneIT and Ipower to do theirs?

I think you have to wait a little bit and then draw a conclusion.

I'm guessing that the Yahoo! one was the only MelborneIT?

In my experience, they tend to last the full 5 days (after email approval) before release (and transfer completes). Give it until early/mid next week and you should hopefully have that last one transferred over.

Make sure you let us know how it goes

yes it went through over the weekend. And you're right, the Yahoo! one was the only MelbourneIT name as well. The others were iPower.

For me a transfer took around a week. It was pretty easy, to get the authcode and all. Just a matter of time.
