TNe is liked by many
Red face Beginner=Me

Here's my situation...

How do I create one website...

for example www.iamgreat.com

And set it up to have a different extension for each different merchant...

for example, mine would be www.iamgreat.com/TNe
my friend's might be www.iamgreat.com/myfriend

Does that make sense? I might need hundreds of those extensions, all with order forms, all having to go to different merchants.

Do I have to pay for hosting each one or would I be able to have the main site on one host and then add the extensions without an extra charge...and as many as I need?

If I'm in the wrong place, kindly re-direct me to another place in the forum.
Thank you!!
~ Tara

Well, you can do this by creating folders in the main directory..Suppose if you want to make an extension TNe,then make a folder for TNe in your main directory...And I hope there is no need for extra bucks as long as your space and bandwidth are sufficient..
I think this helps

Hi, try to estimate disc space and the bandwidth ( you may use bandwidth calculator for that) and get the account with multiple domain and subdomain hosting. Th ebiggest number of subdomains that I know of is 50, but, probably, there can be much more.

I don't understand... they're not asking about subdomains, or multiple domains? In short, I don't think that is relevant advice?

My question to TNe is - please can you explain a bit more about the intended application/purpose of this website? I don't fully understand why you want a different "order form" per merchant?

It sounds like maybe you want a single page, and you would vary that very slightly for each one (e.g. to identify each order as originating from a different sales rep. or similar)?

In any case, I'd suggest that you only need hosting for a single domain/website, and you shouldn't have any need to pay extra for any other feature/service from a hosting provider.

From what you've said, it sounds like any standard shared hosting plan would probably suit your needs (space/data transfer permitting). Given that you're almost certainly starting a new website here, I wouldn't expect you to require more than 50MB space, and 500MB data transfer (certainly 1GB should be plenty).

With most hosting providers, you can easily upgrade at any point should you find your needs change - make sure you check this before you subscribe with anyone though.
