Portal Password

I have set up the portal on my website. I had the password, and it was working fine. Now, for some reason it just wont work. Since, i own the portal, and the website. How do i get my password back? Is there a way i can go into files to find it, or reset it?

Not sure this is the right part of the forums to ask this kind of question...

However, in order to answer it then you'll need to explain what portal software you're using!

The most likely answer is that you can reset the password via some built-in mechanism (e.g. it emails you a new one), or edit it manually in the database (on the assumption that the user system is database driven - most likely is); of course, worth pointing out that most decent systems wouldn't store your password in plain text, so you'd also need to know the encryption/hashing method used so that you can replicate it for your new password etc.

The information provided is insufficient. if you are using a custom script, you may have to ask your programmer. Otherwise please post the name of the script you are using. Differnt programs will have differnt ways of doing it.

In most cases, the password will be saved in mysql databse. You may use phpMyAdmin and edit the password if the it is saved in plain text.

Is this the password your script uses to connect to the database or the password you use to login to your script as a user/admin?
