Internet Information Service Help

Hi everybody,

I'm not sure this is the right spot to post such posting.

I was wondering if someone might help me to fix strange things happened with my IIS server.

Today I noticed my IIS is not functioning.
I went to the services administration trying to fix it. It goes with the error message that it cannot find the path.

Then I went to IIS consol by itself and noticed that I cannot run right mouse click for "properties of Internet Information Service". Double-clicking on "Internet Information Service" doesn't help too, it looks like folter is blank.
Another words its full of mess., and I really don't know what to do.

Please help!!!

Have a great day,
Peter

Internet Information Service Help

Not really. Reference to local computer to be connected to IIS simply disappeared from the Internet Service Manager (like someone deleted it). When I try to connect to my local computer manually, it brings me that silly message: "Error connecting to my computer name. Cannot find the path specified." It's kind of confusy, what path they are talking about, and where can I look at the registry or somewhere else to see that path?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have a great day,
Peter

Is the "C:\Inetpub" still existing? What's happening if you try to restart IIS from services?

Yes, the entire directory "C:\Inetpub" still existing. When I try to restart IIS from services it gives the same error message about "Error connecting to my computer name. Cannot find the path specified".

The same message appears even when I try to open Internet Service Manager Application through the Administration Tools, because there is no local computer set up at all (it looks like it was deleted). When I try to connect IIS to my local computer it gives the same error message about the path.

I have know idea what to do with it. Please advise.

Have a great day,
Peter

Try to remove IIS and install again. You can do it from control panel -> add/remove programs -> add/remove windows compenent. To reinstall, you will need the windows CD.

Dont forget to virus scan your pc.

No, I didn't change my computer name. I'm running Windows 2000 Server, and IIS is a part of OS.

I will reinstall IIS, let see what happen. If any other idea, please advise.

Thank you and have a great day,
Peter

Internet Information Service Help

Thanks everyone for trying to help me.

I fixed that issue with IIS.
First, I uninstalled IIS as a component, and then reinstalled it again.
While I rebooted the system it starded fixing bad files and references, and I assume the system was corrupted. But anyway, now I know how to fix it.
If anyone have similar issues, I will give my advice.

Have a great day,
Peter
