Dreamhost is letting me down..

Alright, well i paid for the two year prepayment of crazy domain insane at dreamhost - hearing that they provided good service. Well the customer service is great - prompt and friendly (props for that). But still, connections to my site are really slow and I've been noticing other people saying that dreamhost has been lacking in the speed department lately. Well I'm going to get my money back (they have a guarantee) and find another host. I need something that I can host multiple blogs and possible directories on. And i need a fast connection - any suggestions?

Dreamhost is letting me down too. They had the same problems last year after a power failure which caused me to cancel my account. This year it's network problems. I believe they over sell way to much. Databases are pilied on to overwrought dedicated database servers which means any database powered site, wordpress for instance is only as fast as the database server lets it be.

But for the price and features you really cannot complain too much. They are good at refunding your money when you as for it.

HostGator is decent but getting ssh access is a rigmarole and nothing can be chmod 777. If those things don't bother you, I'd recommend HostGator.

yea i thought about hostgator, but to my knowledge they arn't too much faster.

HostGator is okay, I personally canceled my account because of their ssh and file permission restrictions. Plus, I had a run in with a pretty stupid "tech support" agent.

I also hear good things around the vBulletin support forums about SiteGround, although I have no experience using them.

What about v7n hosting? This is a pretty big forum and it flies.. If the rest of their servers are this fast, I'd jump on a hosting account with them in a heart beat.

If don't mind spending a little money, VPS is the way to go. I have a VPS with ServInt and highly recommend them. I recommend them so much, I won't cheapen myself by trying to slip an affiliate link past the mods.

Hostgator was sucking for me so I left.

Laggy as hell and 4hr+ downtimes!!!

Hostgator is good for me.
I have a dedicated server and about 4-5 shared accounts with them

hhhhhhmmmmm think im gonna go with bluehost now.hostgator does not sound so good now.i would go with v7 but its more expensive,and seem as though my site will not be making any $$$ for a long while im paying out my back pocket.if v7 could match their prices and storage space then i would really go with v7 out of loyalty

Shall I ask you what are your requirements on disk space and BW? And what i your budget?
I would suggest you to keep away from overselling hosts. Don't go for something you don't want even if the price is same. If you are looking for a 1 GB/50 GB BW , don't go for a plan that offers 100 GB space and 500 GB BW just because both has same price. The later is just overselling and you will have only issues with them.
