Can anyone recommend hosting in Japan. I need mysql in a modern box. Any recommendations?

Thanks for the reply. Linux in a shared setup is ok for this project.

If you have another recommendation for dedicated server that would be helpful too.

I noticed some hosting firms do not offer mysql, php, etc. So I am looking for a modern hosting company.

Any special reason for looking the hosts in Japan? You will have more options to chose from if you look at US hosts.

Good question. I have a client based in Japan that only serves Japanese clients in Japan. I noticed that Japanese websites that are hosted in Japan are much faster loading, probably because the infrastructure is more developed when accessing in Japan.

The problem is that hosting options and service plans seem limited.

For this site, it makes sense to host in Japan but I am having trouble finding a provider.

Clients in Japan always prefer local hosts. But hosting is not really cheap in japan. With or without superior infrastructure, local hosting is a good idea.

There is something to say for bringing the server closer to the user. As long as the prices are not too bad. I found one service for 3000 yen a month that looked decent. I'll post how it goes...
