Angry Problem on my end or Webhost?

Hello I have a site hosted with Onsmart.net. I have 3 email accounts set-up that have worked fine for the last 10 months. I access them with apple mail.

This week I have began receiving phone calls from friends etc.. saying they are getting a "mail cannot be delivered error" when they try to email me. The funny thing is I can receive emails sent from some accounts and I can send them to myself from my rogers account with no problems.

Onsmart has been absolutely horrible in helping me with the issue to say the least (another story in itself). I sent out an email to 10 friends and asked them to email me from every email account they could. Some went through fine and some received an error message in return saying it was undeliverable. Onsmart is telling me that it is the senders problem and not mine. I think it is far too coincidental though.

How come all of a sudden I am not able to receive emails from people I used to be able to? Any ideas I am ready to change hosts and am disgusted at the way they have been treating me. If you require more info please ask.

Thanks

Is there any relationship among the emails that got returned? Were they all hotmail, gmail, or other public mail servers?

I ran across this a while back. Because of the amount of spam being sent from hotmail and similar services, the hosting company took it upon themselves to restrict mail being accepted from those servers. (Which is not right, IMO... I am no longer with that host) Like you, the problem of not getting *some* emails just suddenly "sprang up" overnight.

I'm not saying this is the problem, I'm just presenting it as a possibility.

Lost (or returned) emails are frustrating. I hope you get it sorted out...

Thanks for the reply.... the emails are all from very random accounts so I can't determine any relation there. For example one is a business account from a web design company I used to work for and some are hotmail addresses I have corresponded back and forth with several times until this week. It is now to the point I am not even receiving any spam and when you don't get spam it raises a big red flag. This is for my business and it is proving to be a very frustrating set back.

There's a bear in the buckwheat somewhere.

Hopefully others will have some suggestions... The above drained my wealth of knowledge on the subject.

From my point of view it is a deffinate problem with your hosting provider. You should force them to fix the issue or change hosts.
