Thumbs down Host for Website Email

I would like to provide my website visitors with a free email service, and I am in search of a host to host the email accounts and the PHP webmail script. I am looking for the following:
  • Provides a large amount of disk space and large amount of bandwidth (over a few TBs or unlimited)
  • Provides unlimited email accounts with IMAP and POP
  • Can't have any tough restrictions on how many emails can be sent from my account per hour or per day (I am hosting a free email service of course)

I have a budget of about $100 per year for this project. Anyone have hosts to recommend?

Not reasonable.

Most reputable hosts have a very strict NO SPAM policy.

Well I am fine with email restrictions..but I would like it if they were like 100 emails per day per email account, instead of 200 emails for the entire hosted account.

I am fine with spam policies, we have even drafted up our own very very strict spam policy as well as spam monitoring.

Any idea for hosts that have a rule such as 100 emails per day per email account?

Your looking into the realm of overselling if your specifically asking for a few terabytes of transfer for less than $10/mo.

Overselling? I checked out your service and you only offer 3 GB of space with your 4.99 plan....so how come 1&1 can offer 120GB?

UtropicMedia.net offers nice email services. They offer quite enough disk space and data transfer for email. Sub Domains are also available . Large Attachments are allowed as well.

The only option left for you is to get a dedicated server. However, your budget is way too low for that.

I'd love to know what host you can sucker into this, but please realize that the resources you are asking for do really cost a host money and the host needs to cover those costs so that they can expand to new servers:
  • Provides a large amount of disk space and large amount of bandwidth (over a few TBs or unlimited)

Disk space is a commodity as is bandwidth for any host. Probably the biggest cost issues with any host.
  • Provides unlimited email accounts with IMAP and POP

There are licensing issues and storage space issues here, not to mention support issues as Email is one of the biggest support issues for any host.
  • Can't have any tough restrictions on how many emails can be sent from my account per hour or per day (I am hosting a free email service of course)

Again, bandwidth issues here for your host.

And you want all of this for . . . $1C/yr.?

Good luck finding a host that would agree to this.

Wanna add that email features are included into the package plans of many web hosting companies and you may use them just paying for the package plan itself.

I've been using Google email services for my smaller clients and they are delighted. Of course they get a custom desktop in their company colors, and, the url is their owm.

Except for the IMAP requirement they meet your criteria.
