I also would recomment hostgator. Their support is very good. Easy to contact via phone or chat and very helpful.

for Newbies better go for godaddy or dotster. hostgator is good with unlimited features. But for new its little bit expensive

I don't think Host Gator is good for newbies. They over sell way too much, and most new people don't need 350gb of bandwidth a month, nor do they need 300gb of disk space.

Love the support they give. And I have never seen any of my sites down until now anyway lol
