Host Gator for Newbies?
Hey guys,
I'm looking foward to open my first own internet site and need a hosting company now. I always read about Host Gator in different forums and that they are worth the price.
Eg with their 1cent for the first 30 days offer.
So I want to ask you all if you could recommend Host Gator as a good hosting company?
Thx for your help!

I use them for several sites and never had a problem yet.
Like all hosting companies people will say good and bad things depending on their experiences.

Only having a personal experience you may judge about this or that company IMO.

If you were going to use HostGator for a Large phpBB or vBulleting Forum then I'd suggest no, Main reasons are that Forums use good amounts of CPU, Such large oversellers do not like this.
But if it was something very small, then I would recommend them
What you got too loose, You will never know till you try.

Host Gator seems to be the more reputable companies amongst the Overselling world. There are more reputable hosts on the web but people choose hostgator because it is more common. Not because of it's support or servers but just becuase of it's name...

I also like hostgator. Use a hosting where you get good 24 hours live chat support.

There are many hosts that will also offer some good services, The only thing about Large Companies like HostGator, Yahoo, Bluehost and the list will go on is they offer so much for so little.
Features within cPanel are sometimes cluttered with things that you will never use, Ads and promotions and blah blah blah.
The thing I like with smaller hosts is they are able to offer usually a non oversold service and speed, Customer Support I ll admit is a must.

Agree, but I also think large companies like Hostgator or say, BlueHost are not for newbies. I suppose there is a chance to be lost among other small clients or get oversold. This is only IMO, so the choise is up to you, but I wopuld recommend you some companies which are not as large - Ahosting.biz, or DreamHost.com, they are not worse than others but I believe they make less problems for clients.
