I like PHP a huge amount. Trouble is, I'm always looking for a host that might be better than the one I'm with, because I want to take advantage of everything that one can do with code.
I've used awardspace, freehostia and free-space but found faults with all of them that held me back. I'm now using www.freephphostonline.com and am happy with it but is there something better out there, something with more space, more transfer per month or just newer versions of PHP and MySQL?
I plan on making a really big website with all the bells and whistles, including log-in capabilities and the ability for members to send messages amongst themselves, etc., so I'm going to need space, no limits and lots of monthly transfer. Freephphostonline.com seems good, but if you know of something more, please let me know!
Oh, and any tips on what graphics program is better to use than paint shop pro and is better for creating some really modern looking effects would be appreciated. I'm not great at graphics design anyway - need all the help I can get.
I think if you need something better then free web hosting. And I see that you have some important to host. I think that you need to think of changing to the paid web hosting. www.arteryplanet.net might be your solution if you are looking to have solid web hosting.
Hi Chapster, guess it depends on what you're looking for, but my guess would be that you might want to move onto a paid for hosting provider.
To answer your other question, the real crux is to make sure you optimise the images for the web, ideally each image should be no more than 25KB, and you should make sure that the page itself doesn't have too many of the higher kb images (too high a load time)
Best of luck.

Due to financial reasons, I'm looking more into free hosting, although I do want to move to paid hosting at some point, because even the best free host I've used never seems that fast. Not only that, but I like to use contact forms, and so I need sendmail that works quickly and every time.
Thanks for advice on graphics editing. I've heard lots of good things about photoshop, but still use paint shop pro because photoshop seems so complicated and I've now become so use to PSP that the prospect of starting all over again is daunting. It does seem limited though, compared to what people have told me they can achieve with other programs.
I think you have clearly know about want you want .In that case ,you can use the free hosting .Then ,after you earn enough money .You can change to paid hosting .

Fast, cheap and high quality web hosting starting from $4.95/month. PHP, cPanel, FTP, Perl, MySql, Subdomains, 24/7 Support.
I use Dreamhost. Uptime-wise, I give it 8 out of 10, but what really keeps me there is their customer service, which is definitely 10 out of 10. Pricing is not the cheapest, but still competitive. Dreamhost gives you plenty of space and bandwidth, too.
You know, most free web hosts impose advertising on your website. This is done to cover the costs of providing your site the free web space and associated services. Some hosts require you to place a banner on your pages, others display a window that pops up everytime a page on your site loads, while still others impose an advertising frame on your site.
In general, if you run a business on the web, you will not want to take that kind of risk. Bad support and "down" times have a habit of occurring at the worse possible moments, such as during your tremendously ordering seasons.
To my mind, Marblehost.com is really reliable hosting company and stability is its an alter ego. Besides, they offer free domain name if you purchase any web hosting plan.

Your need paid hosting, 2$-4$/month not big money for this.
actually how to pay if you don't have credit card or other means to produce paying?
a reasonable free webhosting provider with php and mysql is 000webhost but now a days their service has declined. Before they were offering a cPanel now no more also you have some restrictions about using certain php functions like chmod, fopen and etc...

MMHosting.com, Lypha.com and A2hosting.com are good companies that provides shared hosting cheaply on acceptable conditions.
Their services are widely represented in the web hosting market. Their long history in this business gives the reasons to treat them as the companies with highly redundant servers and quality support.
If you are really serious about what you are doing, you should be prepared to spent a $5 per month for a reliable host. Free hosts are never reliable, and not simply right for any serious use. may be okay for a student project, a demo etc.
Dont expect even a paid host to provide unrealistically large amount of space and bandwidth. Actually most people would over estimate the requirements. You should be happy with a small amount of space and bandwidth and just need to upgrade as you grow.
dakshahost has some bugs. They register ``your IP'' before you sign up ... and as they associated it with you if you browse their site and look arround you won't be able to sign up later ... so 000 web host still remains unmatched according to me.
