Thumbs down Is this a good Hosting Plan ? - 4uhosting

I have found this hosting provider in UK (my news, chat, forum portal will be for uk customers).

Do you think their offer is good?

There hosting plans are compared here.

I would like to purchase the 'Plus' plan.

Please tell me what you think.

Even before trying to get first hand experiences, it is better to do some home work.
Search for some reviews in hosting forums that will help you to a great extend.
Web hosting talk is another reputed forum to get genuine reviews.

Ask them their server configuration, total number of sites they host on one server and % of resources allowed to use.

Chat and forums are resource hungry. Some host restrict to use their hosting resources beyond certain %, so you can't run busy forums on those servers.

Make sure that they are not one day host:
1. Try to find reviews on them
2. Make sure about money back guarantee policy
3. Ask for trial period.
Hope that will help you get out more information on them.

Please tell me what you think.
My own rules:
* I don't like to pay hosting provider an yearly fee. I'd be stuck with them if they don't provide good service.
* I don't like registering a domain name with the host itself. They won't transfer it easily to other registrar when you are moving away from them.

Though that hosting plan 'Plus' looks ok to me, check the host like this:
* Do whois and see for how long they have been around.
* Check their forums if they have one.
* Find out their resource usage policy as you are hosting news, chat, forums etc - all are server intensive.

.

Yearly fees are very comfortable for people. But you are right once someone sign up he prefer month to month payments and then once he decided to stay for ages - pay annually and that helps him save money

If the hosting is new for you, it's better to pay per month. Who knows how everything will go?

Hello, I have been using 4uHosting for a couple of years at least. I have a reseller account with them for which I pay £23 a month for. My only complaint is that they do not take the payments automatically, I have to log in once a month and pay through WorldPay. This is a hassle.

I haven't had any downtime problems and their customer service response time is a few hours.

To be fair, I haven't used many other hosts but from the ones I have used (Servage, 1&1, hostlution/webgems) 4uHosting is the best in my opinion.

"plus" plan only host 4 domains. It depends on you, how many domain you want to host. If you only host 1 domain, it could be your choice.

My rule to choose host company are looking for review, how many domains I can host in one account, cpanel must be user freindly, downtime, customer service.

I've made a small blog, that will expand to host reviews of different webhosts.

It is located here, [self promotion link removed]

The host that you have described in the original post seems a tab expensive in my opinion.
