Ouch, I feel really sorry for those who are color blind - It makes you appreciate the true meaning of life and webdesign too.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_blindness
Quote:
Color codes present particular problems for color blind people as they are often difficult or impossible for color blind people to understand.

Good graphic design avoids using color coding or color contrasts alone to express information, as this not only helps color blind people, but also aids understanding by normally sighted people. The use of Cascading Style Sheets on the world wide web allows pages to be given an alternative color scheme for color-blind readers.

It is sometimes claimed that in extreme emergency situations everyone is color blind. When the need to process visual information as rapidly as possible arises, for example in a train or aircraft crash, the visual system may operate only in shades of grey, with the extra information load in adding color being dropped. This is an important possibility to consider when designing e.g. emergency brake handles or emergency phones.

Wow... I didn't even think to consider how a web's color scheme might look to a person who has a form of color blindness.... I wonder what it'd be for them in like a club's dancefloor with laser lights & strobes going!

I would settle for the true meaning of Christmas and the true meaning of life. The rest is too complicated.

Well since I am color blind myself I have no use for the tool

If somebody wants to be rich they will make a converter for colorblind people to see how the REST of the normal color people see websites...I would pay big $$$ for that!

hehe lol how does colour-blindness happen? is you eye missing some cones or or something? or perhaps the optic nerve partially failed to develop (instead of completely failing as it does for blind-from-birth people)?

Best converter tool I can imagine, would squash all the colour information into the visible range of that person, in such a way that the full contrast is shown in their range. Allowing you to read/see things that were hidden, but not to experience any new colours!

I wonder what would happen if a baby is kept in a completely blue environment while his optic nerve develops...? (I suspect it would depend if the optic nerve has 4 seperate channels for CYMK or one aggrigate)?

How would the world look if I could see another colour?
Imagine if humans had infra-red or ultra-violet vision?
I think if a fourth colour recepter was added to the eye, people could see 4 seperate colours but still with in the same range, the hues we see is a statistical average of wavelengths of light (i think) - I wonder why 3 sample points along the spectrum was chosen as the most sucessful in humans???
