It isn't free but Koolmoves is a cheap flash program I've used before. I think it's $49. Try their free download.

No. There are no free flash editors that will enable you to make fully functional changes to a Flash template. There are decompilers, which are not editors and there are flash exporters which are also not flash editors. Those have basic flash functionality which is likely not going to work for your template which will have complex animations and action scripting.

Get/learn Flash or hire someone, those are your only two option.

Maybe try Swish.

Where is there a free version of Swish? I can't find it on the site. Maybe you have a link alter-ego?

And I would advise agains't Swish for your needs. It may not even work unless the teamplate was originally built in Swish.

Sorry, there used to be a link on their site, a Shareware version can be found at cNet:

http://download.cnet.com/SWiSH-Max/3...-10042665.html

It's not so much which program built the flash file, rather how it was saved.

...anyway at least if it doesn't work you haven't paid for it.

I'm not sure how it works for flash but for animated .gifs, Fireworks works great however I'm not sure if there's a free version available.

<EDIT> oh wait, here's a dl for fireworks shareware version:

http://www.soft32.com/download_351.html

<EDIT #2> Flash really isn't that difficult to learn but you have to be patient in doing so and take baby steps in your learning. I started off making the most robust flash imagery I could only to learn:
  • vector images and high rez photos make for HUGE filesizes
  • flash isn't the best for SEO unless it's embedded in .html
  • while flash looks good it isn't exactly friendly to those who view your site in anything less than broadband on a computer with reasonable hardware.

I've never used Swish before so I couldn't say if it would work or not but I find it hard to beleive that the Flash proprietary .fla file format could be opened in Swish. So using Swish, wouldn't work. But like I said, I've never used it so I don't know.

Ultimately, the OP has a fla file that can not be edited in anything other than Flash, so still, the answer is "No. There are no free flash editors that will enable you to make fully functional changes to a Flash template (fla). etc etc..."
