How to Protect Your eDocument

Hi,

When customers buy an e-document (in PDF or word) online, is there a way I could imprint customers’ partial information (such as first name and last name) as footer in the document without letting customers alter the document later? I believe with Adobe Acrobat 9, you could do prevent people from altering/copying/printing document, but could you dynamically imprint information into the document?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!!

zo_oz, there could be one way around, but unfortunately I don't know about any way to do that unless you do it manually. There might be but I don't know how to dynamically imprint the "no-edit" lock.

The other solution that comes to my mind is one that is actually very used amongst authors who sell ebooks online. There are certain software applications that modify your pdf in such a way that you can control each copy and disable any pdf file you want.

I can't really explain how they work because I never tried any of them, but if the solution seems good for you, then I will search for the software name.

Unfortunately, you cannot do much with PDF, although it allows you to encrypt with password; but if that is shared around, there is no protection.
