I like the design quite a bit. It's clean, ledgible and easy to identify most of the important components. Make sure on the home page you give some idea of what the site is all about and who should be there!

Yup looks like a nice clear interface.

Personally I would try having the front page give a better desciption of what the site is about (like randfish says), you could always show subscribers a different front page (with news etc).
