should the banner be a link to home page?

I'm looking for current best practices in usability. Should the banner be a link to the home page?

Site in question:

http://cosmoscenic.com

Note there's a clear "Home" link in the nav bar, making the banner link to home redundant.

I want this to be ipad friendly, and think it might be easy to inadvertently tap that big banner and there's no visual cue that it's a link.

It doesn't hurt IMHO. I generally expect the banner to link back to the home page

It's kind of a de facto standard if you ask me, so yes, I think you should link it to the start-page.

Nothing wrong with having the banner link to the home page. It is supposed to advertise it after all.
