After seeing some tweets and analyzing the SEOmoz website, I decided to write some tips and tricks that can decrease pages load time as much as possible. Any search engine wants to provide users a great user experience, just like Google, and a fast site improves overall site quality and increases user satisfaction. "Experiments demonstrate that increasing web search latency 100 to 400ms reduces the daily number of searches per user by 0.2% to 0.6%. Furthermore, users do fewer searches the longer they are exposed. For longer delays, the loss of searches persists for a time even after latency returns to previous levels." Google says.

I will list a variety of factors (+ useful tips from Yahoo and Google) and will use SEOmoz as my example:

Any feedback?

From my experience the most important thing is to cache pages. Even dynamic pages can be cached and this will make your pages super fast

The article says to optimize image sizes. Is there an opinion for a suggested image size (or sum of total 'image on page' size)?

Hmm... its seems the author already mentioned all the important points from PageSpeed and YSlow. Just one thing I would like to bring into focus is image sprite. It really helps a lot. But, the author kept it as sub-note.

FYI, to run a speed test to see what things you need to work on fixing, run your websites through this tool. (FYI, it's free and you don't have to register)
