We need your feedback for the quality improvement. What alternatives to this anti-fraud method do you find efficient too?

Well this could be considered inconvenient, so it depends on what benefits it provides.

It's definitely a great way to put an end to fraudulent credit card use and chargebacks.

yeah, is it the only way? How much of a problem is it (frequency not seriousness)?
How does it work?

Customers don't like the idea of it, but I like it. Gives me a chance to get to know the customer more.

It would be a nice feature, but what would the site be? There is no real point making such a hassle of verification if it's just a normal site. It would be very handy for credit card and purchases. Maybe if you wanted to ensure members on a board only had one account.
Just be careful though, because some members may really not like the idea of this.

When I do a bank transaction they SMS a security code to me. Stops fraud.

I wouldn't buy anything that requires a call check.

suggestive selling, ah yes, a hallmark of mcds!
I bought hosting last week and had someone call and confirm that it was my order. I actually thought it was kinda cool, they gave me support numbers (that I didn't write down) and an email address (ditto) and it gave me a warm fuzzy about the company.
Also, I work for a company that sells a bunch of online products, subscription based, and I'm constantly getting panic emails from people who just bought...you know the ones in ALL CAPS WITH LOTS OF !!!!!!!!! a courtesy call would clear up a lot of that junk, I think.
But, I would think that the overhead on all those calls would be high. If it's only to stop fraud, I don't think it's worth it.

Cim - that wasn't standard procedure. They just saw your avatar and wanted to check you out further.

A lot of the dedicated hosting companies are doing phone verification. Good idea if you ask me.

This heavily depends on what you're using it for. If it makes it inconvenient to the customer don't do it, unless it's a large purchase or whatnot.
