Why do you say flash is unavailable? IMO, that would be the *best* option for displaying video.

I hate quicktime and Itunes....terrible programs. I have the codec installed so I can play mov files. I also can't stand RealPlayer. I prefer just plain ole windows media player or divx.

A little off-topic are we?

Seems as if we have gotten off-topic, so I'll re-introduce this.
I would suggest, not quicktime, not even Real media, but WMP.
Mostly everyone, 87% actually, in the world are using Microsoft Windows. So why not use Windows Media Player? It comes standard with Windows these days, so just use that. It would make it easier for everyone, with windows, and no installs are necessary.
The only problem you are going to run into is the casual people running Linux, or the smart asses running Mac.
** I call them smart asses, because they are. Everyone I've talked to who uses a Mac, for the most part, is a smart ass. They think they are the best thing in the world, and just when we are done with our conversation, the Mac crashes

I have QT and am getting pretty ticked-off at it. I just got broadband cable hookup. Even with the latest & greatest QT and Flash plug-ins all I get is a gray "Q" with a question mark on it -- no videos! Tried their help forum without much luck. Seems like a lot of people have the same problem, but none of their solutions have worked for me. Very irritating!

I have the latest version of quicktime installed, yet I often encounter embedded QT content that doesn't work properly. My FF plugins are also up to date, yet I still find myself looking in the source to find the direct .mov location.
Grrrr QT.

umm.. Everybody sounds pretty mad @ iTunes & Quick Time. lol Even I've faced such problems with Quick Time but because of a few problems, I can't stop using it.
By the way, which application do you people use instead of using iTunes & QT?

Hi there,
I only have QuickTime installed for the codecs, so I can play certain files. Same with RealPlayer, simply so I have full usability. RealPlayer is worse though, I wish it never existed.
Regards,
Kieran Taylor.

I think that QuickTime is not very popular software, I don't like it and all my friends don't use it too. Flash or WMP would be a better alternative.

If you install it, you may as well use it. Try to get rid of all of it with an uninstall, its impossible, I tell you.

Honestly, you don`t need quicktime installed. There are alternatives, like only small lite players that I`ve found on the web. Realplayer does a magnificent job finding the play plugins if you don`t have the codec for the format. But quick time you know, does have some stream qualities ( some say, not me...

I don't use quicktime in any of my applications. There are a lot of better applications out there.

As much as I hate to say it, stick with Windows media player. Almost everyone has it, it usually works and is fairly reliable.

Vlc player is a great alternative too i use it for everything ever since i ran into problems with windows media player. I mostly use it for listening to shoutcast / webradiostreams tho but sometimes i use it on my laptop to watch from my sat receiver.

Media Player sucks, Quicktime sucks. I have an issue with Media Player showing my videos in pink !!! That`s a douzzy, I thought I had problems... Turns out it`s Media Player
What I like to use for videos is BSPlayer. Fast, smooth, advanced functions...awsome tool.

Flash Video
I use flash video on my website. Those flash has a higher penetration than WMV. Ok using the latest flash player may not be wise, but working a generation behind is fine.
At least Flash is PC and MAC.
