Multiple Languages

Hi guys,

We are working on a site that targets users from different countries. The site is focused on discussions, sort of like forums. The challenge: How do we control the language that people use in order to avoid having Babel on our site?

1. Force users to use one language
2. Build different editions, one for each country/language
3. Users tag each post with their language. Visitors select "show messages in x languages"
4. Total freedom, babel, see how it goes.

E.

vivirenet,

Since no one answered this - not that that has ever stopped me from posting -

If you want it to look pro you have to have a good transcription. Build another site have it transcribed by someone - put it in another directory, sub-web or site

Other wise it looks like one of those chinese ads you see all the time -

I went to a site that had multiple languages on it. They had it so you click to the language you wanted. The one thing I did notice was threads that were in English may not be in Russian. I found out that the reason they did that was because an issue in America wasn't a issue in Russia. Also people have different outlooks on life. So a problem in one country was a running joke in another.
