Don't load the front page with crappy books on nothing but online marketing.
Seriously, not only is it oversaturated, it doesn't do half as well as bull**** gurus tell you it will. It also makes people think that's all there is to the store.

I would actually recommend having the landing page be the one that has genre / section selection, and maybe only 3 "hot sellers". Make sure that at least one is fiction, and that they're all on the NYTimes Top 100.

If you're going to be selling eBooks, do it through Amazon, and sell books that are well written, and cover a wide variety of topics.

The site loaded really slow for me and had several broken images. To me this is an immediate turnoff and distracts me from the buying experience.

I totally agree, I had a site with good google traffic that totally tanked when there was uptime problems. It took the site almost 6 months to recover with google
