Lowering number of backlinks

I recently noticed that my backlinks seen by using Google search is decreasing in numbers everyday. From around 56 last month, now I only have 9 for my travel blog. Any suggestion to what is going on with it?

I suggest you try to get some more backlinks. As pages get de-indexed from Google, the links on such pages may not be counted as backlinks. The pages from where your site got links, those pages may have gotten de-indexed.

If you get a solid backlink, then you will see it as long as it stays alive.

And where are you checking your backlinks?

Via link: operator?

In Google Webmaster Tools?

I use both and it show similar results. How can I be sure that I am getting a solid backlink? Thanks.

i suggest you to check your Google Web Master Tools account to check your Back links.

get more good back links... probably, the reason why is that they are deleting your link to their website...

well, not all of our links in a certain website or its specific page can stay there forever... if Google crawls a website and considers a link on a certain page as your backlink, once that page is gone and is once again crawled by Google, the backlink is gone as well... you should just continue to focus on getting quality and related backlinks.

Getting more backlinks is the only solutions. Put comments on blog postings, social bookmarking etcc.......

Most of the links are not permanent that's why you have to continue building links in order to stay on top rankings.

I don't spend any time looking at Google's list of links. It's no longer the useful tool it was about 5 years ago. Stop counting links and just try to get 1 quality link per day. More would be nice of course, but a link a day is pretty good for niche sites and well-established sites.

It only happen when your work slow and their you add your link they site not crawlling by search engines. You do on thing do social bookmarking, link exchange via chat, log commenting etc. they proide your site back links

link count dwindling is a constant problem. You need to make sure you spend some time everyday building your backlinks. I built mine up, then left them stagnant and in a few months I had lost about 40 links. You just have to keep at it daily

How are you checking the number of backlinks? Using the link:site.com operator is not accurate, and even Google Webmaster Tools, while it's better, is not totally accurate.

They say you need to build more backlinks like doing link exchanges with the same content as your url as well as do directory submission and blog commenting

the best is created 10 links a day but here is how can you check the links in google (all in one line):

Google doesn't show all the sites that are linking to you. I recommend using Yahoo site Explorer as well. More sources=more accurate info. I also recommend continuing to build up your backlinks as other have suggested as the Internets is influx.
