It's going to be tough going to make good money from a news site - same as it's tough with article directories, etc. - site will not have a solid theme, such as make money, employment, finance, etc. as news will obviously change, day to day

Anyway, a single, in-your-face large rectangle above the content, with same font colour, and link colour as your site will work best

Adsense earnings generally seem to be on a downward trend, so I've switched my core activity to building, then selling, websites already ranked in google, rather than continuing to scrape a living with adsense and affiliate sales

I think doesn't exist a perfect adsense theme. Every theme can be optimized for adsense and others adv. You need ofcourse study some html and css technics to perform it better.

Yes, you're right

It makes no difference, provided the theme is technically OK for SEO

I used to use the same theme for every blog I made, and had no problems

It was recently pointed out to me that having the same theme for all my blog sites could result in adsense team banning the lot as being made for adsense sites

I no longer make wordpress blog sites, as they take too long setting up for SEO with all the plugins - exception is a new wordpress blog I've just built, as I need to list websites for sale - and wordpress blog in this case is going to be easier to make the constant changes as sites are sold, and new sites become available for sale

I've gone back to static html - but I do use a specialist sitebuilder that swaps out includes for content as the site is generated - but finished site looks like a hand-built static site

I think the polulation at large have been brainwashed about wordpress blogs - they lost their ranking power 2 or 3 years ago, but people keep on building them anyway

No one is really attracted to ads. In fact, 1% is not bad. When you pass out flyers or business cards, out of 1000 cards you may get 1-3 people who call.

Of course this is different. It's adsense. Just focus on building your traffic. and 1% will mean a lot more. Perhaps they are more interested in what your blog is about rather than the ads themselves?

I don't know if anyone's mentioned it in this thread, but there's a metric called OCI

Put simply it's a score that search phrases get for being "action" phrases - i.e. "buyer" phrases

Deliberately writing content that contains high OCI search phrases should improve your adsense click rates, as the visitors you attract will be actively looking for a solution, rather than just being tire-kickers who have little interest

I looked at the demo site with several browsers - with some of them the theme was broken

Also not so sure about the vast amount of "white space" when you look at the source code

I'm not sure that the theme was coded by a professional
