Dont sell the clicks, sell the ad spots

One of my clients is in the Forex businesses and he is doing well with the Forex affiliate programs. the CTR is not bad and he gets affiliate account filled with real time traders.

With some monetizing and out of the box thinking, he is not selling the most of his ad spots for flat fee and not via affiliate link, even to his 1st Google page competitors. The revenue is WAY HIGHER than before.

Think not about the clicks you sell, but about the ad spots themselves.

That's great advice on selling spots rather than sales. Of course what works for him will not work for everyone. I think everyone should take the time to experiment and see what ad style works best for them.

It's not always like that. I make more off of my adsense than I do off my projectwondeful spots on my blog. About 3 times as much.

Gotta admit I'm beginning to wonder why Google disallows paid links but allows paid image advertising.

I really think this is more market specific. Just because it worked there doesn't mean it would or wouldn't work else where . . .

You'd need to test which one gives you the higher revenue to know for sure.

First of all, I'd never come across Project Wonderful before, thanks for the heads up.

I think Google's 'beef' with paid links is that they're used to boost search engine rankings, and paid advertisements *I think* go through the Ad Server so no PR is passed?

Its difficult to sell adspots on website but if your website has good traffic then you can get ads on your website otherwise adsense works better.

I earn about 10 bucks every 6 weeks or so on the two sites in the sig. (Just requested a paid out this morning and went looking for the last time I requested one. I also run my own advertising every so often.) Pays for the vps every other month. Adsense does slightly better but with PW you;re also helping out small time artists, creators and webcomics.

The webcomics are the ones making the money it seems like. Every time I see an advert on one of their sites, the space is like in the $10-20 range.
