Question Question about changing urls. Smart move or not???

I work for a real estate company in western Montana. Currently they have the oldest realest website in the state(about 10 years old). URL for this example is (www.thth.com/tetet) not the actually but not sure if I could put it in here or not. The firm would like to change the URL to another one that they own the rights to that is more user friendly and web friendly. The question they have right now is "Is it be a bad idea to change the URL and Lose the ability to say that it is the oldest website in montana for real estate?" The url that it would be changed to is agreed to be better but every one is concerned about the marketing benifit of the old site. If this question makes any sense to some one out there your help would be greatly appreciated. If you have any question to help understand this question please ask and I will try and explain better. Thanks to all and have a good day or night

I would think the benefits associated with being on your own domain would outweigh any benefits associated with being the oldest real estate url in the state.
