Hi,
15days back our site alexa ranking is in 4,45,367 like that after doing blog commenting, social bookmarking, external blog posting web directories submissions now the rank has changed to 2,76,433.

I have an entertainment site with an alexa ranking of 248,000. I get on average 6500 visits a day producing 50,000 pageviews daily. I have some ways to go before realizing my goal of getting under the 100,000 mark in alexa (i know alexa isn't a valid metric to measure by) but I guess its just something I've always wanted to do

I am still getting the same visitor as i was before but my alexa ranking has drop fro 20k to 70k anyone know the reason for that?

For a long time I have stopped caring about Alexa data.
I personally think the data is inaccurate.

Alexa is not really accurate, especially when the rank is below 100k. It can be used as one of the parameters to judge the traffic of a site you have no access to analytics - like a competitors site. Just for an idea, and it is not hard to manipulate the rank also.

My apologies for updating an old thread, but I am so pleased that I had to share it. I have now finally entered the top 100,000 on Alexa; 97,066 is the 3 month traffic rank. And I think there is room for improvement as my 1 month traffic rank is 61,920 and my 7 day traffic rank is 27,688.
This is all because of general increasing traffic, but mostly because of an extremely busy 3 weeks which resulted in a new all time high for unique daily visitors at over 30,000.
Alexa is not completely useless, though. Advertisers do use it as it is the only method for them to roughly know the amount of visitors a website has. I am contacted quite regularly by advertisers who want to display a contextual ad on my website now offer me more money per ad. That can't be a bad thing.

Currently our rank is around 1.200.000 but is growing very fast!

Patently false.
There are many firms that have much more complete traffic data available than does Alexa.

But, that's immaterial to the fact that it is not the case that Alexa is "the only method for (advertisers) to roughly know the amount of visitors a website has."
And, your Alexa data is not independent of the acts of others; to the contrary, it is entirely dependent on users installing the Alexa toolbar.

I definitely think there are factors in play other than just visitors. My Alexa rank is just over 1 million and I only get 10 to 20 visits per day with around 50 page views.
