How much should I ask for advertising?

Right now the only income source on my website is AdSense. Though the money I earn from this isn't too shabby, I'd like to experiment with other methods.

I am going to try to sell advertising positions directly (or via other websites) but I've got no clue how much I should be asking for the various positions.

The website I'm talking about gets about 100k pageviews per month and is in the gaming niche. And the positions I'd be selling would be either 125x125 (x4), 728x90 (x1) and/or 160x600 (x1).

I'd appreciate it if I could be pointed in the right direction.

What is your pagerank? That is what plays the biggest factor, more so than traffic when selling links.

I'm not looking into selling links just yet jedediahd. Right now I want to sell advertising.

But thank for you sharing what people are interested in when buying links

Where is the traffic coming from and for how many months have you received this traffic numbers ?

Anyway sorry to burst your bubble but gaming traffic is usually very low value . The US/Canada/EU/AUS/NZ/JP traffic might fetch a few 50 - 300 USD per month for big banner but otherwise i don't see much value to it . Nevertheless i don't know the prices for the gaming niche so they might be a bit higher .

You can checkout buysellads.com, They offer a service where webmasters can sell advertising space. I personally use it in my blog.

I've tried buysellads a few months ago when my website had over 100k pageviews, but apparently that wasn't enough even though they accepted website with a lot less pageviews than mine...

It depends on your page rank, under of unique visitors and impressions you recieve per day. Sell cheaper at first and raise as you get more buyers and see at what point you can ask for a good price but also get advertisers.

I would think you would make more from affiliate products and commissions to amazon etc. than selling banners. With banners you might get $100-$200 per month where you could make $1000's selling Call of duty and other games and services.

Hi you have not mentioned the Page rank of your site. Any ways you are getting good traffic to your site. You can ask 50-70 dollars for 125* 125 Ads on the top of the page.

price range can vary for ads and niches. just be sure to throw up statistics on the advertise here page so the advertiser(s) know how many people will be seeing your ad.

if you don't want to go through with selling advertising, go with some CPA companies. i know some have gaming related offers for email submits and what not.

you could average up a CPM deal for your clients or simply sell text links.. even if they're not on good spots of the page people would still pay for them for an SEO aspect.

I am reviewing the same issue. Depending on niche and common of niche 150 - 200.USD I have heard less but I have heard much more depends a bit on traffic and value of niche. I know that in my main field looking at like minded I see one of them charges 199 per month for banner ads. I problem is not in how much I will charge but finding advertisers...if you know let me know thanks

You can charge more if you sell the space to sites that benefit from that type of traffic more than others!

That would fit with one of my blogs because I do recommend them as a place to resale what users buy through one of my sites and have been thinking that way along with liquidation dot com which is the only competitor I have for the same site. Would be interesting

Why don't you open a marketplace on your site where you can sell Call of Duty games and such? That would bring in a nice income.
